My mission now is to tell people deciding on healthcare is never, ever, ever sign up with Humana. They don’t care about you; money is what they do care about. I signed up with Humana last year believing that they would look out for my best interests with regard to my health. Three months later, I learned the hard way that they lie and lie. I had a severely infected toe so I went to the primary care doctor they assigned to me. The doctor put me on oral antibiotics while making me return week after week so she could keep billing Humana. In the meantime, I continually asked whether the toe nail needed to be removed and about seeking the care of a podiatrist, I was told that everything would clear up soon, but don’t even think about cutting the nail. Finally after several weeks of this ordeal, my foot became so swollen that I couldn’t even wear a shoe. The primary care doctor finally sent me to a podiatrist who after seeing my foot couldn’t believe the primary care doctor waited so long. And to top it off, I was diagnosed with a bone infection that required eight weeks of IV antibiotics via a PICC line. What did Humana do? They denied almost every bill and then had the nerve to tell me that going to the podiatrist was not medically necessary. Can you believe it? When I called Humana, they continually lied to me about everything never caring about me. I was able to get rid of Humana, but the damage was done. I paid a high price for getting Humana, but now I have the power to let others to please think twice before getting Humana. Do your homework so you don’t get taken by this dishonest company and have to suffer like I did. It was a nightmare that I should never have had to go through. Please read everything you can about Humana before doing anything-make an educated decision to not sign up with them. They don’t care about your health; they prove that fact every day.
