My family and I have several health insurance policies including still utilizing a Humana Dental Policy. My husband need to have Medicare Health Insurance. An application was filed but before undergoing the underwriting procedure I attempted to cancel it. The company would not allow me, the wife, POA and beneficiary, also the person who filled out the application online as myself, not as my husband, to cancel the policy. During a period of two weeks I received repeated robocalls and real person calls that said, “We would like to tell you about your policy but no one is here to explain it. We will call back later.” What? I told two live representatives that we did not want the policy. The second representative was incredibly rude. I asked for a supervisor, Steve, who was even worse. He called a second time leaving a message to send a letter by fax or by mail with my husband’s signature and date to disenroll. We did that. Then I received another robocall about how no one was available to explain the policy. Then a live person called 5 minutes later and I explained that we did not want the policy. He attempted to continue the general rudeness as the others had, so I put my husband on the phone and HE tried to disenroll. My husband literally had to argue with the representative who wanted to know why, etc. Finally, after the call, I called the number back myself. I was told again about the procedure, told him we had written the letter and my husband personally disenrolled on the phone. This representative told me we would be sent a letter stating that he had. I asked the representative if a premium had been taken from our account. He said that the company sends a coupon book. We have no coupon book, no mailed policy, not insurance cards, just unbelievable rudeness. When I get time I will be looking for another dental plan. Clearly Humana has no idea how to speak in a professional manner. I also requested that NO ONE call again and asked that to be in bold letters on their computer. Wehave never been treated so poorly and harrassed so much by an insurance company. Be warned- their idea of customer service is yelling.

48 hours from cervical fusion surgery i”m notified not by humana but by my surgeons” office that authorization for my surgery has been denied! Upon my calling humana and transferring me three times they connect me to a company called orthodex (Sounds like that anyway) there some lady tells me the nurse determined the codesed by the surgeon and the medical diagnosis/records do not meet criteria! A nurse undermined a neurosurgeon! From there they bounce me back to humana representative that says I have to resubmit authorization request and a humana nurse will determine if humana pays or not! I was told matter of fact that wedesnday sirgery isn”t happening. When asked how long the new process would take humana wouldn”t say. I”ve been in pain for over 1.5 years and am tired of aspirin, opioids and more pain! They treated me as if I wanted a cosmetic surgery or decided that my surgery was for fun. Now I must endure once again all the ct scans, xrays, blood work and other tests again! Costing humana more money in the long run!

A couple of warnings. There dental coverage is average with other at best. Getting reimburse takes an act of god. But on the other hand there are people in the business world who do not believe in ethics or morals of any type. One such company is Aspen Dental. Long story short. Went to Aspen Dental for a routine check up and cleaning. Asked if they took my PPO and of course they said “yes”. Took my card, copied it, did the work and found additional dental issues that needed to be addressed. The bill over $2K when they were done. Second opinion found these supposedly service were not warranted or even possible. Aspen Dental never submitted my claim for services that they did render. Humana has special prices for In Network providers. The dentist was in fact in there list, but Aspen Dental was not. The address was the same as the listed dentist. Only a little deception at this point. After service provided, Aspen finances the full amount of services to be rendered. Services that could not be rendered according to the second opinion. The bill was from an outside finance agency with extremely high interest. Not one bill went to Humana which they claimed they took right up front. Still to date, 6 months later, Humana has not reimbursed me for the services that were covered at 100% per my insurance as stated. Aspen Dental is still in business as of this date. Deceptives business practices, no insurance investigation and no check from Humana. Thankfully this case has been handed over the states attorney general’s office with all the documentation stating the facts. Keep all your records, including chats, bills and any communication. Deceptions lurks in the wings of those who will pry on you.

A simple way to find which Doctors, clinic, and hospital are in the Humana network for a zip code. I have spent over 5 hours on the phone and internet to get an answer. Now I don’t trust my findings, as its not explained very clear. If open enrollment was now I would cancel and go to some plan, who cares!!! It would be very easy, to have a site, that is easy to find and get to!!!
Humana Reviews & Complaints
About six months ago, my husband”s company switched from United Healthcare to Humana health insurance. The first thing I did was go to Humana”s website to make sure our family”s doctors – my son”s pediatrician, my OB/GYN, and our family dentist – were in Humana”s network. I really liked all of our doctors, I”d done a lot of research to choose the best ones, and I did NOT want to change. My son”s pediatrician was the only one that didn”t show up on the network list. I called their business office to see why they didn”t take Humana. They said they used to take it, but had a very hard time collecting from them. They said Humana had a habit of automatically paying the doctor less than the agreed-upon amount for a service, and then making the doctor”s office jump through hoops to get the rest of their money. They said when they did pay out, it took forever to get a check, and often required multiple claim submissions. And they said Humana refused to pay for what the doctor considered to be routine care for a child, including some vaccines and screenings, and that they nit-picked every chart in an effort to get out of paying for care. They said their relationship with Humana got to the point that it wasn”t worth it anymore, so they dropped them. And as disappointed as I was, I can”t say I blame them. So I went to Humana”s website and found a pediatric clinic that is in their network. I went there and I hated it. It was clearly an inferior facility and inferior quality of care compared to my previous doctor. And I was even more frustrated when, a month or so later, I got a bill in the mail for $104 from the doctor”s office. Apparently Humana had paid only $34 of my son”s 15-month well-child check-up. I called Humana to tell them there must have been some mistake. They said they only paid a small percentage of the claim because I went to an out-of-network doctor. I said, “No, actually, the only reason I even know that doctor exists is because I found them on YOUR website.” After putting me on hold for more than 10 minutes, they came back on and told me the clinic I had gone to was in-network, but the particular doctor I saw was not. I asked them how in the world I, as a consumer, am supposed to know that just because a clinic is in-network doesn”t mean the individual doctors are. After much, much, much back and forth, they agreed to resubmit the claim and pay it. They acted like they were doing me the biggest favor in the universe, and kept stressing that this is a one-time ONLY exception they were making for me. Gee, thanks jerks. Not long after that, my husband went to see our family”s dentist, which was in-network. Humana paid for his entire check-up, no problem. He didn”t even have to pay a co-pay. Two weeks – yes, exactly fourteen days – later, I went to the same doctor and got the same check-up and x-rays. When I finished the appointment and went to check out, the office manager informed me that I owed them $280. I informed HER that I had dental insurance – here”s my card, which I”ve already shown you when I came in. She said, “Oh, I guess they didn”t tell you we don”t take Humana anymore.” I said, “What are you talking about? My husband was just here two weeks ago and you took our insurance THEN.” She was very nice, but she told me they had been in contract negotiations with Humana for months and couldn”t reach an agreement. The dentist had requested a small and routine increase in fees, and Humana had bluntly refused. She said the amount they were willing to pay would not even, in some instances, cover the dentist”s costs. I told her I refused to pay, since they should have told me when I walked in and showed them my card that they no longer accept Humana. I called Humana to protest and got nowhere. They said it was my responsibility to know whether the dentist was in-network. Apparently I should have checked to make sure the dentist was still in-network just before I walked out the door to go to the appointment. Checking before I MADE the appointment wasn”t good enough. So now the $280 is in limbo, with me, the dentist, and Humana refusing to budge. After the dentist incident, I thought it might be wise to go back to Humana”s website and make sure every doctor in the state hadn”t dropped them. I was especially worried about losing my OB/GYN. I had established a great relationship with them during my first pregnancy, and I felt comfortable with the thought of future pregnancies knowing I would be in their good hands. So when I pulled up a list of in-network OB/GYNs in my county, my stomach dropped. Not only was my doctor not on the list anymore, but there are only three doctors in my entire county that take Humana. And I don”t live out in the boondocks, I live in Raleigh! For comparison”s sake, I went back to United Healthcare”s website to pull up a list of their in-network OB/GYNs in my county, and got a message that I would need to narrow my search criteria because my search had returned more than 300 doctors. THREE HUNDRED. Humana offers three doctors, none of which is less than 40 minutes from my house, and only one of which delivers babies at the hospital closest to me. I called my OB/GYN”s office to find out more information about why they dropped Humana and… well, by now you can guess what they said. Last week, I woke up in the middle of the night with horrible lower abdominal cramps. I started to get worried that it was something serious, since I very rarely have any abdominal or gynecological issues. Then I thought, “It”ll be okay, because if this still hurts in the morning, I”ll just call my gynecologist.” And then I remembered that, thanks to Humana, for all intents and purposes I don”t have a gynecologist. Or a dentist. Or a pediatrician. Or any good alternate choices available that DO accept my insurance. It was a terrifying feeling. I guess this is what it”s like to not have any health insurance at all. So we”re shopping around for a health insurance plan that we”ll have to purchase out of pocket. It will cost a lot more than we pay for Humana through my husband”s company, but we”re willing to pay for peace of mind.

After a long wait a young man answered that had no ideal what he was doing after a considerate amount of time. He tried to transfer my call and hung up on me. waited for call back that did not come. Called back on hold once again then a lady that kept asking the same questions over and over told her to write it down 20 min later she said to call my Doctor told her had refills but insurance stopped the pharmacy from refill total run around

After buying glasses for myself with Humana insurance and buying glasses for my sister in law without insurance I was shocked to see that I had to pay more for the same glasses with the insurance than she had to pay for the glasses without the insurance. I tried to cancel the insurance and was told I was locked in for a one year contract and could not cancel the insurance. This information was never given to me at the time I applied for the insurance and I believe this is an immoral and deceptive practice. Beware of any dealings with Humana.
Humana Reviews & Complaints
April 21, 2017 my husbands primary insurance and Humana BOTH agreed that no prior authorization was necessary to implant a pain pump for his stage IV metastatic cancer pain. April 24, as my husband was being wheeled in for surgery Humana called the Dr and said he did indeed have to do the trial. We debated and then the Dr did the spinal block to test the medications efficacy. It is now April 28 and Humana has decided to deny the pain pump even though the Doctor himself has called and asked for an expedited appeal. In essence, they are torturing my husband by denying appropriate pain control. This is not the first time we have gone rounds about prior authorizations since my husband”s diagnoses March 6 2017. It took two months for chemo to be approved. This is absolutely inhumane and needs to be addressed. I called Humana today after the Dr office called me and was told it was because the diagnosis of neoplasm pain was insufficient. Why couldn”t they have told that to the Dr office the last 4 days in the more than dozen times they have called?!!! I ended up speaking with almost half a dozen people whom all spoke with multiple departments and still got nowhere. In fact, they disconnected me and told me my phone call was unable to be completed.

Before I booked an appointment for dental services, 11/13/2018. I called Humana for provider directory and verified benefits for the routine cleaning and filling that I would be receiving. Then almost a year later I get a bill from the dentist stating that Humana had denied the claim saying the dentist was not on the list. Of course, he was…I have the list they emailed me and he is on it. I spoke with Humana and they had the nerve to ask me to file an appeal, which I refused to do given that the dentist was on the list. Sent them the list they sent me just to prove it and did not hear back. Second visit to the same dentist a year later, and another bill. The dentist assured me before the work they were on the list as they had been before. Now I am billed $500. The short story is that now I filed a complaint with Medicare, Humana does everything possible to dissuade you from getting a claim paid. I don’t get mad anymore…I file complaints, write scathing reviews and finally get resolve. Enough of this crap,

Called to find out why multiple line items were denied for duplicate when they were not duplicates. The first initial call was with a Yuri Y. And I had already done the research and she confirmed it was a duplicate in error, HCPC were completely different, she asked me to submit medical records I then asked to speak to a supervisor. She said fine and hung up the phone. I called back and straight asked to a supervisor but a Rio stated that he would connect me to a supervisor but first he needed pt info. I gave it to him and he proceeded to put me on hold. I assumed he was gathering information to put me thou with a supervisor, instead he returned and stated he agreed that they were denied in error and HCPC”s were in fact not the same. He still wanted me to submit medical records. I asked again to speak with a supervisor and he said please hold. They did not put me on hold. He straight just disconnected the call. Called again x2 but could not get thou. on the 3rd attempt a Dominic answered and connected me with a Jeff/ Supervisor. I have been on hold for 1 claim, 35 minutes now while he is review our contract. This is ridiculous. I have told him I have more line items that were denied in error and he said he understood but needed to review the provider contract. At this rate it is taking way too much of my time and theirs. This is why HUMANA has a bad rep with its customers and providers.

Chose Humana Medicare PPO with extra premium to avoid doctor and hospital co-pays because previous provider, Optima, stopped serving my state this year. Turns out almost no one in Humana’s book or on their web site as Humana providors take Humana. I called Humana and they told me to just call everyone on their list. This is dreadfull. Salesman sold me a bill of goods with Humana. Now I’m paying a premium for a PPO almost no one takes and I have no ability to choose and doctors based on my own research. Medicare won’t let me change providoers for another 9 moths and I have kidney stones in both kidneys. What a mistake. Choose wisely and don’t believe anything without looking into what real people are experiencing with it.

Date of Incident: 08/20/19 I am a Healthcare provider and calls Humana Monday – Friday for updates on claims or to find out why a claim denied. The representatives are so rude and often do not want to help with a simple claim status or questions regarding the processing of the claim. They will put you on a silent hold until you get tired and hang up or they will put you on hold with music and eventually hang up on you or wait till you end the call. I have requested o speak to a supervisor and have been put on hold or hung up on and have to keep calling for the same issue with no resolution or either call back and pretend I”m calling for a different reason and request to speak to a supervisor in provider services and that”s how I end up speaking to a supervisor. This is so unprofessional on Humana”s end on so many levels. I am not the only one with this problem, other billers have this same problem. I had this same problem with Humana when I was at a different company. Someone please look into this as soon as possible. The supervisors obviously has not done anything to change the way the representatives are doing their customers and clients. We have countless claims to follow up on with Humana but can”t get through half of them because of this continued issue. Although we have Availity, it”s not user friendly when it comes to Humana. It”s not like we can send an inquiry through the portal like other payer plans that use Availity. This is causing us major issues trying to do our daily duties during our work day. I am solely speaking of the “Provider Services Department” that handles the claims. The number we call is 1-866-427-7478.

Dear Humana Representatives, My name is Vernell Vaughn, assigned member, #[protected]. Your Representatives failed to inform me about an application fee. I had another health plan coverage with another company & was not aware that, my original plan offered dental & eye plan. I requested cancellation of all services on July 23, 2019 & spoke with a Natalie, she stated, they would send me a form to sign in mail, never received. The total amount taken out of my checking was $109.00. I am requesting this amount be put back into my checking account. I called Human today & spoke with Gabriel, August 13, 2019 at 9:00, he was the first person to tell me there was an application fee. None had of your other representatives mentioned anything about application fees. If not refunded all monies, I will tell my friends on social media about this experience against the elderly. Thank you for the opportunity. P.S. never received the hard copy form to sign for cancellation. Only received $16.99 refunded to my account. It”s been over 21 days, have not received, as told by Natalie. Thank You!

DO I MUST DIE??? The Humana Pharmacy require that I contact them every 3 months to approve the shipment of medication, even when they have a script from the doctor. I am 77 years old and I forget and in 2018 I did miss 3 months of medication. This year, 2019, first they refused to send me one medication, I did complain and the medication was approved until 2021. We are as today June 21-2019 and I did not received this medication. They have a Network that includes Doctors Groups. One Group called Uro Partners, the only one that Humana has with my insurance, refuse to let me see an Urologist. I do not see an Urologist with Humana Insurance since January 2018 until today June 21-2019. Whit no other Group close to me I do not see an Urologist. I did call Humana Insurance and they send me an EMAIL with Doctors for 4 County but my County, Lake, Illinois, has only Uro Partners Group which refuse to let me see an Urologist. My body do not produce TESTOSTERONE and Humana insurance is not providing me to see an Urologist and Humana Pharmacy do not send me to right medication putting me in a greater danger of dying. My primary care Physician is not responsible for this problem, He Send the Script to the Humana Pharmacy and the request for an Urology Doctors. [protected] I did speak with Debbie at Uro Partners Group Headquarters and I was told that DEBBIE is calling MICHELLE, DIRECTOR of the Group. So far I do not have received any response making my health in more danger. Uro Partners Group is refusing me to see an Urologist because 4 years ago I saw an Urologist belonging to Uro Partner group which is asking me to pay first $50 and now $74 for bills when I saw him. This bills are with a credit collector. The problem is very simple: Humana has no doctors with any other Groups and Uro Partners is not willing to let me see any Urologist of their Group. MONOPOLY??? Don”t let yourself be fooled…they don”t payout medical claims. They cancelled our policy when we paid them with a certified check and proved to them with the postal receipt that it was paid in time. C Walsh promised to fix it after trying for a year…but she lied and never did. Gary

Dont trust anything you hear over the phone from them. I tried cancelling my account over the phone with them two months ago and was very kindly told that it was cancelled and everything was taken care of. Nope my account has been debitted and credited for the last two months. I cant get them to stop my automatic payments. I call them about it and get the run around. Aweful customer service.

Dr. Walter terminated me without letting me know . H also told the other physicians in his office not to take me as a patient. I am now without a physician and I need medical care. He also invaded my privacy by letting all the staff in his office know. On my records it specifically states that no one is to be given my information except when they need to know for medical reasons. His entire staff has been given access to my information. I found this out because another staff member told my husband who is a patient at the same medical facility. HELP!!! I need a doctor ASAP as I’m without some of my mediation!!!

Every time I try to get something straight with Humana Customer Service, the more I find out how “stupid” and “untrained” their agents, and “supervisors” are. Is there anybody with this company that can improve the service they currently do not give their customers. I have a wonderful agent, who sold me the policy, and she has told me to call her when ever I need anything, and don”t even bother calling “Customer Service”. There has to be somebody with this company, that wants to improve its customer service dept.

Every time I turn around Humana decreases what they will pay for. The most frightening thing is the pain and sleep medication I have been taking all my life. They just stop covering medication that is addictive! I hope every one of those executives and the “fake helpful” service reps come down with MS, Cancer, Diabetes, and every other incurable condition and they can’t find any insurance to cover thier basic needs. Let them see what it is like to be told “In 30 days you can no longer have your medication”. Drop Dead Humana!! Burn in Hell!!
Humana Reviews & Complaints
Everyone I have talked to has been polite and respectful. 1) When I purchased the policy 008 PPO beginning 1-1-17, I was originally told tier 3 drugs have no co-pay. Wrong. Tier 3 has co-pay. Book I received after 1-20-17 shows a co-pay. I called, they can”t tell me why. I have all of the notes and name of person who told me no co-pay, Ashley. We went over each and every medication I take, and only 2 Tier 4 should have a co-pay. Now I am stuck. 2) 1/1917 I tried to fill out their online NEW prescription info to get started on my meds. Not only does it not make sense, and has bad grammar, it does not work. I called to ask what one of the questions means and spent 1 hr 20 min on the phone, passed around 4 times, and no one could answer the question. I must say, #3 Deardra, was awesome and stayed on the phone with me through the conversation with #4. #4 had poor English skills, and was not understanding Deardra”s questions. She too was frustrated because no one could answer my question. #4 said it was an IT issue, and referred me to them. #3 Deardra IS with IT! Deardra asked for a supervisor and was never put through. I had to disconnect because I had an appointment. I went on line and put in a request for someone to call me on Monday. Deardra gave me a # for complaints. Called it, is a contact lens place. 1/23 Received a call back. She was wonderful, and I cannot find my notes with her name on it. It seems you CANNOT enter NEW prescriptions on line when you are a new customer. Website needs to say that. You have to do it over the phone. All of my prescriptions were given over the phone, they send to my Dr”s for approval. Wonderful. But this took another 59 minutes on the phone. Glad I am retired. I gave her my c/c # because my one prescription was going to cost me. No shock there! See 1) 2) 1/25 Received an e-mail asking me to confirm my ship to address and need c/c info. Um, c/c info was right there in the e-mail, I just confirmed my c/c # and my ship to address. 3) 1/26 Received an automated phone call, woke me up, stating that they needed my c/c # to pre-pay for a prescription before they could ship. I hung up. Now I am getting upset. They called me again later, and I talked to John. Very nice. He said needed my c/c#, oops, yes, he sees it on my account. They need permission to ship. I already did that. He fixed it. He does not know why my on line entry did not fix it. We went over info again, and I should only get the e-mail if needed. 4) Looked in my book about the co-pay. Says no co pay for Tier 3. Called pharmacy and got Angela. My book shows 2 different things, and I have to pay the co-pay. She was very polite too. I asked for complaint #, she came back after a 4 minute hold and told me they only take letters, and gave me address in Cincinnati. I told her I received a phone # from Deardra, but I must have written down a digit wrong. She said she was told they only take letters. Another 15 minutes of my life I can”t get back. I am done! I won”t renew with Humana next year. I hope the medical side is better. Have not used it yet. When looking for a complaint # online, I found this site. Would love someone to contact me.

First off you decline a test for someone to see if they have cancer or other problems. Dr did a test anyway and found out my grandmother had cancer. And yall just keep denying everything. Starts chemo and she got sick and in hospital ends up being aloud to go home after over a month and 2 or 3 days later your stupid case worker is not aware she was aloud to go home and still a week later no home health is set up. and the one you offer is not everyday and my mom is exhausted with no sleep for over a week cause yall are to lazy to keep up with your work. So my mom is crying because she is tired and can’t function and you can not even do your freaking job. My mom has been taking care of my grandma for almost 2 months. She has not been home and has not gotten a chance to see her kids or husband or get her self ready for a new school year because she is a teacher. So our family has gone way beyond yalls stupid petty no caring offers and found home health places that are gonna try and take over what yall can’t. I will laugh the day yall get sued over all the hell yall like to cause in peoples life. Unless yall just hope people do not live so you don’t have to deal with that case anymore, yes i went there cause thats how we were treated and how yall acted to make us assume that.

First off, do NOT let them deduct your premium from your social security benefit! You have been warned. When we moved from one state to another my wife could not find anyone to go to in the new state. When we called Humana we were basically told “sorry, tough luck” and since it wasn”t open enrollment we couldn”t disenroll. They kept taking the premium out of my wife”s doc check. When we commented that due to low income we qualified for state aid HUMANA THEMSELVES told us we could disenroll due to “low income subsidy but we had to complete one of their forms, which we did. After that and several phone calls we were told they would stop deducting premiums in Apiril 1st. Imagine our anger and surprise to find it continued through July. We eventually had to call Medicare directly and have Medicare FORCIBLY disenroll us. We had DOUBLE COVERAGE for 4 months and it is clear that Humana is doing everything possible to avoid refunding premium. They go as far to say they can”t refund because we “used the plan”. EXCUSE ME, But had you disenrolled us when we first requested there would not have been coverage. for the past 6 months Humana has been denying patients excessive amounts of pts the right in Tennessee to come to In-patient rehabilitation units to receive the most appropriate care and best benefit of services to return to home. The service representatives are telling admission nurses that Humana guidelines are different that CMS guidelines and “that we should find appropriate pts and quit wasting their time.” The patients call and are told that facilities have not submitted appropriate documentation to qualify them or no documentation at all. Humana has the chance to get patients the best care and be an advocate but is choosing rudeness and I cannot understand why.

Good Day my name is Shamel Byrd I am an RMA with Novant Heart and Vascular, and I have a complaint/request. When we receive these Prior Authorization for the patients the fax we receive from your office only has patients first and last name and Human Member ID, which is not very helpful on our part when we are trying to locate who the patient is. This leaves us typing in the patient first and last name and have to go threw each patient in hopes to luck up on the patient who the letter may correspond with. If we call your 800 number the customer service rep will not help us with finding out who this patient is as well so now the patients medication is now on hold because we have to find out who this patient is, we can not look up a patient in our system threw there Humana ID number . If you send a letter for a John Doe could you image how may john doe I have to go threw to find out which one this letter is for. I would really like to know if a date of birth could be added to these letters even if you guys add the patients address we can even look it up that way but they way you guys are sending out these letters are not helpful for us or the patients. I really would appreciate your help in this matter thank you so much in advance. Sincerely, Shamel Byrd [protected]

Gottlieb hospital NPI [protected] Tax ID [protected] RE: patient ID H44999284 Angel Martinez DOB 8/21/1946 I called in for surgical authorization for Dr. Marcus Quek for date of surgery on 11/15/2016 I used the automated service and entered all the necessary info as requested and it was verified as I went along the automated system, then I was automatically transferred to your agent Raeso at 9:15 am on 11/14/16. She made me go thru all the info again because none of my automated info was retained. I spent almost 50 min on the phone with agent Raeso attempting to get authorization for our patients surgical outpatient procedure. I am calling from a busy physician office and I am angry that I wasted almost one hour of my time! What is going on? What is the point of an automated system if it doesn’t work and then a MD office needs to repeat the entire requested info back to an Humana agent? I asked the agent the the customer complaint phone number and was given [protected], then I pressed #2 for specialist and was promptly disconnected. This happened twice today 11/14/16 Ugg Linda Bauman Loyola/Gottlieb Urology 2160 S. First Ave [protected] Maywood, IL 60153

Health insurance is on the front burner of most political conversations. I offer a honest and complete story regarding Humana”s health insurance polocies. In short, I have seventeen pages docuementing phone calls, written letters, and actual bills to support my previous statements. In the worse case scenario, you lose an hour by reading about Humana”s detailed fraud. At best, you are the first to break a story involving health care that will “blow everyone out of their seats.” While I am 98 percent sure you will write me off as a crazy person looking for revenge, I hold onto the other two percent. I”m offering a story that is important to all persons. Please give me the option to send you my previous docuementations. (I can”t spell!!). thankyou, jenny schmitz

Hello, I was working in one of your facilities in the Chicago area. When your IT representative walked in the door. I politely said good morning to her as she walked in. Seeing how we made eye contact I expected a reply. The response I received was a look of who are you as she walked past me around the corner. I hope that is not your company policy, to be rude and not reply. She also likes to boaster about she is the only IT in Chicago. I hope this will be addressed. Thanks, Craig A Padgett

Human Dental paid for a claim. According to Humana, they then later denied the validity of the claim, after almost 1 year, and then said I owe them money. They never tried to contact my Dentist who did the billing or myself. I have no record of an original attempt to collect repayment. And the billing department at the Dentist office verified they had never been contacted. This happened in September 2006. And even so, the originally billing to them was correct and, should have been paid by Humana. Now in December of 2008, Finance Systems of Green Bay, on behalf of Humana, has blemished a perfect credit record. Even after I told them this was a incorrect billing error on Humana’s part. People at Humana were incompetent and now my credit report has been tarnished.

Humana contract companies who treat their employees like robots or slaves . Reality is the company contracted can”t really handle the contract due to lack of proper training, childish management, and high employee turn over. Truth is employees are treated like slaves on a plantation. Rules apply to some and not others. If only Humana knew the truth behind the contract or do they even care????? Management shady constantly lying and changing and making up rules as they go. If only Humana really knew who they contract work out to!!

Humana has jacked me around ever since I signed up in Mar 2009. I”m constantly on the phone trying to straighten out there mistakes and incompetent billing. I was on the Humana Advantage Plan because it fit my budget and I didn”t see doctors very often. When I had to get a colon operation I had to call in to Humana for a “Waiver” to go in Network providers and Hospital. No problem except that it took numerous phone calls by me to the providers that sent me unpaid bills and humana denying payments. The operation was in Aug of 2009. Humana didn”t notify me of processing the bills nor did they notify the providers billing office. The providers change so often I can”t keep up with whose in network or what. I call Humana every time before I see a doctor to confirm of in network authorization. Some doctors offices excepted Humana without checking which plan I was on. I had no way of knowing whether the provider was excepting the correct plan. It was very difficult to make contact with humana to get a customer svc rep to assist me with my dilema. Cust svc was very courteous and patcient to say the least. But to talk with the source of the problem dept. Forget it. It happened again on 12/04/2009. I had a hand fusion. To this day humana still hasn”t finished paying my bills. I”m constantly still on the phone with them. Sure humana corrects the mistakes but why do I have to notify them and babysit them. I”m worried all the time the doctors billing office will turn me in to the credit bureau because of late payments. Now, I tried to change plans so I can eliminate the Co Pay and all the hassle of waivers by changing to the F type Plan. 264.00 dollars a month just for peace of mind. Oh yeah…forget it. They screwed that up to. I decided to just return to the humana advantage plan because I pretty well know there game, I thought. After numurous calls and more issues concerning plans, disenrollments letters etc…I knew nothing about because their agent forgot to inform me, the Humana F type plan that was cancelled by me in Mar before the deadline? They decided to withdraw 524.00 inwhich I gave no authorization from my bank account. That”s 2 payments for Mar and Apr this year inwhich I am not covered by the F type plan is in there pockets. I contested the unauthorized withdrawl but humana did it anyway. This is now still pending and if at all I recieve those 2 payments returned to my account won”t happen for 4 weeks. Interesting how Humana takes so long to pay legitiment bills but can withdraw your bank account overnite. It”s been a nightmare for me with this insurance co to long. So, without saying…I”ve learned my lesson. I am now in the market for a reputable co. I”m also filing in small claims court. This is a pathetic situation. The Advantage Plan is not an advantage. Believe me. I”m sure some of you out there are happy with your plan. I guess I was in the right place at the wrong time.

Humana is denying an EMERGENCY visit due to the Hospital being out of network. My understanding, and Humana, has agreed, in the case of an emergency, it is considered IN network. I have received a bill from my ER visit and I believe Humana and the hospital need to come to an agreement to get this paid. I have nearly reached my out of pocket maximum. I checked into SHA ER 7/12/17, into 7/13/17. I had an extreme migraine, throwing up, chilling, and aching all over. I had never experienced such a terrible migraine, that I was afraid I could have had an aneurysm or something worse. SHA is the closet hospital in my range, and I did not know they were consider out of network. I consider a fair resolution that Humana and SHA work out some way to pay the $6, 326.73.

Humana is the most difficult company I have ever dealt with. What can be said about a company that has class action suites against them by Doctors, class action suites against them by Investors, and law suites against them by the people who make them monthly payments. Not to forget about a variety of complaints on various web sites. I find the things they tell me to be deceptive, misleading and inventive to their advantage. Their Customer Services reps sometimes make no attempt to be helpful. It is just get off the phone as soon as they can. Ask those reps for details and don”t accept what they say as all that could be said. If you don”t like an answer call back again. NEVER wait on them to call you as the delay may eat up your appeal time. TAKE NOTES on everything they say. Write everything down. If you feel you are getting nowhere with them with your claims here are a few places you can contact for help. 1. Contact the state Insurance Commissioner, every state has one. File a complaint with that agency. Be detailed and include paperwork. 2. If Medicare or Medicaid is involved contact Medicare and ask about your problem. Again file a complaint including paperwork and any documents sent to you. 3. Contact your US Senators and file a complaint with him. Most have a Representative dedicated to problems that come up with questionable conduct of Health Insurance companies. Demand better legislation and for the rights of the consumer to be protected. Call it a health care consumer bill of rights. 4. Do the same with your Congressman. Hope that he has not taken campaign funds. 5. Some states have a contracting agency to guarantee the quality of Health Care in that state. Ask the state Insurance Commissioners office for that agencies number. 6. Your state may have an organization called SHINE to assist senior citizens. Ask their assistance with your problems. 7. Scan the Internet for any class action legal action. There are search engines to assist you. We need to call attention the those questionable statements and practices of this and other companies that cost us money and a complaint is the only way we can get that short of retaining an Attorney.

Humana is the worst insurance company without question. After paying high premiums ($556.00 per month) for my son and myself, humana has refused to pay for any of my doctor visits so far. Out of a $300-$400 bill for a pap test (Routine cervical cancer test), humana payed a whopping $16 for the lab fee, and I had to pay the rest. For visits to have a wart removed, once again, I paid about $250 for 2 doctor visits while humana paid about $30. I just got a bill from my allergy doctor saying I owed $463 for a $500 bill for allergy tests and treatment. So humana coughed up a whopping $37 for that. I have called the company numerous times, filed a complaint, etc., but they weasel out of it every time. Run from this company. They love to dissect each and every doctor claim and refuse to pay based on unclear wording in your policy. I would love to see a class action lawsuit against this company for their refusal to pay claims based on unclear/misleading wording in policies.

Humana is the worst! We’ve been paying two years for dental services we cannot use. Last May I found a dentist on their website and went there for a cleaning. Humana denied the claim saying they were out of network so we ended up having to pay out of pocket. I’m still fighting with Humana to get reimbursed. In September 2019, my husband went to a different dentist, referred to us by a Humana representative, that claim was too denied for the same reason! This is ridiculous. I cannot cancel or change providers until open enrollment. I’m so outdone.

Humana keeps using excuses not to pay according to my daughter”s policy. The claims come back as “penalty applied for not obtaining pre-authorization, ” or they don”t pay within the 15 business day time period required by the state of Georgia, or they claim there is a co-pay owed. In 2010, my daughter made 5 trips to one doctor. Same excuses. We fought it, and they finally admitted they should have paid. The doctor got paid in March 2011. We reported them to the Insurance Commissioner numerous times. In all instances (there were 149 claims in 2010), they were supposed to pay 100% of the charges according to the policy. We even sent them a copy of their own policy. After spending countless hours on the phone every week, they finally finished paying the claims for 2010 in March 2011. We record all the telephone conversations using Record My Calls.com. When they find out we have recorded, they are much more likely to cooperate. We are having the same problems this year still. If anyone else in Georgia is having a similar problem, please comment. It might be worth talking to an attorney.

Humana promotional materials fail to fully disclosed what they mean by “in-network”. They lead you to believe it is any specialist doctor that has a contract with Humana to accept the Humana Gold Plus (HMOPOS) plan. This is NOT true. My primary care physician (PCP) is a member of the Dupage Medical Group (DMG). A 300 doctor plus group with all kinds of specialists. They will not refer you to other specialists outside their (DMG) group, even those they are listed in the Humana Provider Directory. I carefully checked that both my Primary doctor and my eye surgeon were in the Provider Directory prior to signing up with Humana Gold Plus (HMOPOS). If I had known about this bait and switch I would have never signed up with them. Medicare regulates everything about Medicare Advantage plans. They need take action against Humana. All those currently enrolled in Humana Gold Plus should be allowed to switch out immediately.

Humana uses Right Source as it’s prescription service. We received 2 prescriptions that were 2.5 times the cost of 3 local pharmacies. It seems to me that we should not be in a plan that we pay premium for and have to pay 2.5 times the local cost for our medicine. Suggest: Check with your local pharmacy to determine the cost of a prescription before you turn it over to Humana mail order pharmacy. Each of these Rx were 9.99 locallly for 90 day supply. We were charged $25.73 and $19.86 by Humana-Right Source. No one there seems to have the authority to adjust this.

I am a coding specialist for a Eye doctor in rural Missouri. I have had numerous people call in and complain because there is a Out of Network deductible for their services rendered by our doctors. We explain to our patients ahead of time that we are not providers but we can bill their claims out for them and everything is subject to their plan. Come to find out there aren”t any In Network doctors within 65 miles. I felt especially bad for a couple from the town I live in that we have been seeing since 1996. This patient has to have test ran every 3-6 months to monitor a condition for his eye (he only has one, and now has glaucoma in his other eye). Anyways, I spent an hour on the phone and I found out there is a waver that the parients can fill out to get their claims processed as in network if there isn”t any In network docs within 30 miles, so we did all of that and got an authorization for all backdated services and through the end of the year. Now about 2 months later and 9 calls and 4 hours + on the phone with people that can”t help me I am still stuck! I have spoke with Supervisor after supervisor that promice the moon and all I get is rejections and duplicat claims. I finally called the patients Insurance agent to inform him that the insurance that he sold these people was not something that is working for them, started to explain all the problems with In and Out of networks and he and said “People hear what they want and he has been selling this insurance for 5 years” well Mr Gary I want to let you know that this poor guy with only one eye has been coming to us for a very long time and you should ask more questions and “qualify your customers” before you sell them a useless insurance plan!!! BEFORE YOU BUY HUMANA – CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE DOCTORS IN YOUR AREA!!! HUMANA IS NOT THE SAME AS MEDICARE!

I bought regular dental insurance with humana federal advantage dental VAN6 thru the federal health open enrollment . Humana will not pay my common cleaning and cracked filling charges because my fed benifit plan pays $24.00 for these services. I have called humana and talked to customer service and they assured me the problem was fixed. It isn”t. For 2 cleanings and a cracked filling repair they have allowed 0 .my dentist has resubmitted all as requested by humana.I have paid a insurance co and the dentist both for these services. I feel cheated by humana.

I am absolutely appalled how this company treats patients, customers and provider offices. Not only am I a patient but I have spoken to them being an advocate for patients. I was shuffled around for 35 minutes trying to find a status of an appeal and was told the day before they would put in a expedited 24hour appeal due to the nature of putting a life in jeopardy(spoke to Shaquita). After speaking with Ashley today, she was kind enough to not lie to me and said they do not do 24hr expedited appeals. For an insurance company to put lives at risk and lie to the very people that pay them pretty much sums it up. I will be following up with my local congressman and I encourage everyone to do the same.

I am Bobbie Givens. I placed an order the first of April with this pharmacy. I never received the order. This is not the first time that this has happened. I phoned them and was told that the package was sent to Virginia and that it was placed at my door. I am very irritated with this because their was no remorse and no good reason for the mix up. I was told by them to contact my post office to see why I didn”t receive the package. This is upsetting; you had compromised my medical information . Whoever received that package has been privileged to my medical information. There was no concern and I was told that they would send another and it would take an additional 7-10 days. I am more concerned at this point about my medical info being breeched and no one cares. They said UPS delivered to VA. I reside in Louisiana and don”t have residence in that state. Please help, this is a terrible. Why should I inherit the duty to follow up on their mistake? I am a senior citizen and am very careful about pertinent information not being protected.

I am due a refund from Humana for 1272.46 that was mailed on Oct. 25, 1017. I did not receive the check and called on December 18 th and was informed the check had not been cashed and a stop payment would be issued and a replacement check sent. On December 19th I received a call that the check had been cashed and could I have cashed it and not recalled cashing it. I replied that was was not possible and asked the name of the bank that cashed the check. The agent said he would check and get right back to me. When I didn”t hear from them I called late the afternoon of the Dec 19th and asked more questions. I want to see the front and back of the check and was informed that that might not be possible but they would look into it. I was told to give them 7 days to check the front and back of the check. I will call back in 7 days and hope for answers then.

I am filing a grievance about Humana for the decision of disenrolled me as of 10/31/2016. I reside in Pennsylvania in the service area; where in the Evidence of Coverage booklet does it state “I can not visit immediate family members in any state for any period of time.”!! I have requested numerous times over the last two (2) months for the 2017 Evidence of Coverage Booklet. At present, I still have not received the booklet. Please reconsider the decision made on 10/31/16 to activate my Humana Medicare Advantage Coverage immediately.
