The house was not cleaned prior to our lease move in date. We had no electricity in 3 rooms for 3 1/2 months, flea infestation, several broken items. The property manager(PM) (Shelly Hughes) changed the move in date from 1/1/14 to 2/1/14 right before we were supposed to move in causing me to change all of my housing and storage situations. I endured extra storage costs for the storage unit ($250). The prior tenant vacated the property on 1/31/14. The PM gave herself or me no time to walk the property to note the repairs needed because she had us sign the lease weeks earlier while the property was occupied. Then the house had not been cleaned after the prior tenants vacated the property. The house was disgusting, when I notified the PM she said to stay with a friend and she would have it cleaned on Monday (it was Friday). This was very unprofessional and we had already paid and had a signed lease on a house we couldn’t use. We stayed with a friend and tried to find a cleaner to come on Saturday. We found a cleaner and told Shelly and she magically was able to get “her person” there on Saturday. The house was cleaned and we were able to move in on Sunday. Shelly said she would prorate the rent and never did. We had no electricity in 3 rooms for 3 1/2 months! They finally had an electrician come last week. The dishwasher is still broken, the master bathroom toilet is broken off still. The towel bar was scammed the wall and there still is a 3×5 hole in the drywall. The master bedroom shelving was also scammed the walls. There is a strong gas odor that is coming from the laundry room that requires us to keep the laundry room door shut. The rear sliding glass door does not lock and we are unable to secure the house. All of these items are still outstanding. The property manager has lied through this whole process. I spent close to $400 on over the counter flea remedies and finally had to get an exterminator. Shelly said she had an exterminator come to the house right before we moved in. We asked for the date the exterminator came out and the company name and she refused to give it so we could verify her story. The exterminator we hired told us that the house had not been exterminated and will provide a written letter stating that if required. The PM refused to reimburse the pest infestation costs. Shelly got tired of our calls about the repairs and stopped answering all of our calls, texts and emails and hung up on us. She finally pawned us off on her assistant. Her “assistant” Sheryl. Sheryl said she runs her own business and handles all the maintenance for Shelly’s company. She said she would schedule the repairs and never did. She was going to have a her family member make the repairs. I don’t know if a licensed professional is required but I told her I didn’t want a family member working on the electrical wiring in the house if he’s not licensed. I am in construction and this is not safe. She avoided us as well but she finally did get an electrician out here to give power to 3 of the rooms in the house (after 3 1/2 months). The house is only a 3 bedroom 2 bath. I have been trying to get the repairs scheduled and they never follow through. My wife didn’t work and was at the house every day to allow the repairs for the first 2 months. Now my wife is working and we will have to take time off work to get the repairs fixed because Shelly said she wont have someone fix the issues on the weekend or in the late afternoon. I asked Sheryl what the name of her business is and she refused to give it to me. I asked for the actual home owners contact information so I can notify him of the damage to his house and they refuse to give me any information. They are very unprofessional and have lied constantly. This is the worst business I have ever dealt with, I will not renew my lease and never use this company again. These people have no customer service skills, management skills, or professionalism. They need to find employment in a different industry.
