Late 2013 i placed an add on Craigslist Orange County looking for a freelance web designer. I was contacted be several designers. Jerry Renolds was one of them. Here is his response to my add “To Whom it Concerns, I came across your open position today on craigslist and wanted to submit my resume. For 14 years I have worked on some of the most interesting startups in silicon valley. However, as a family we have decided to seek a more traditional role to stabilize our future. Jerry R. Reynolds” After a few emails and calls he agreed to design two sites. one for $900 and a second for $600. I paid a 50% deposit and Jerry signed a contract to do the work. Soon after he collected the deposit his communication became poor and sent this email explaining why “Hey Aaron, Hope you are doing well. As I told you a few months ago, we came upon some real hardships and faced some hard challenges. I am writing today to fulfill my obligation and commitment to repay the deposits you sent me. I know you have sent me your address in other communications but would ask that you send me the address I can send you a check for those deposits. I will not be able to send them until the first of July but if you send me your address, I will make sure that they are sent on that date. I genuinely am sorry for how things transpired, even though it may have not appeared to be so, I am not one to take advantage or take something that I did not earn. I am sorry that it took much longer than either of us hope to return these funds but they will be sent according to the above schedule. Jerry” However he never sent the refund.. After numerous attempts to collect it further i got this email “Hey Aaron. I just had a major surgery on Monday. I will send the payment on the 16th. Jerry” He has not responded to my emails, calls, text. He took the deposit and never did any work, than promised to refund but never sent back a dime. Jerry is a scammer, con artist and lowlife. Do not attempt to work with him.
