The Department of Human Resources in Jefferson County, Alabama has charged my child’s father Child Support Arrears for Cash Assistance (TANF ) that I never received in my name. I was enrolled in the Cash Assistance for a short time and the DHR has me in the system as receiving Cash Assistance far longer than I actually did. The State of Alabama has intercepted my State Taxes and has advised me to file a police report because of the intrenal fraud within the Jefferson County DHR. The supervisor over the Cash Assistance (TANF ) told me that the funds were attached to my EBT debit card while I was enrolled in the Foodstamp Program. The DHR has no records of the transaction history of the debit card transactions from the Cash Assistance that were received from someone within the DHR. The concerning thing about this is that im currently receiving Food Stamp Assistance at this time and someone could be receiving Cash Assistance in my name being issued on another debit card attached to my Name and Social Security number. The State of Alabama should make sure that this type of internal theft doesn’t take place against the poverty stricken clients seeking assistance to survive.
