This website masquerades as an official National Parks service (there is a disclaimer, but it’s tough to spot.) I made the mistake of asking for help in finding some rooms at the (very difficult to book) south rim of the Grand Canyon. I quickly realized I made a mistake in the dates, so I called the company for help. After being on death hold for almost 20 minutes, an agent told me (after some discussion) that she would cancel the reservations and refund the neary $500 charged to my credit card (these people don’t just reserve, they charge) but would not be able to refund their whopping 10% “service fee” amounting to more than $93!! I asked to speak to a supervisor and (after another long hold) was connected to Francisco (no last name) who was defensive and acusatory, but of no help whatever. So now, I’m stuck with a $93 charge for some rooms I don’t want. The company has not refunded the actual cost of the rooms, as promised. This outfit is a scam. Their practice of charging your credit card immediately for reservations is unbelievable, and their 10% “service fee” is an outrage. I am disputing the charges, but I am writing this to warn others. You can make reservations an all the National Parks for free, you don’t need ripoff artists like this to spoil your trip as they have mine. .

This company is a scam. I
This company is a scam. I don’t even know how they got my name and phone numnber. I was looking for reservation slots at a hotel within Glacier National Park, and somehow National Park Reservations got inserted in the middle. I logged my credit card online because lodging within these parks is very competitive. They called me and led me to believe they are connected with the parks. They said the park hotels are “booked” but they can help me find alternatives. At the very end of the call they sneak in their 10% fee. They tell you it you do not loose this money if you cancel. I called within 24 hours to cancel as I sensed a scam when I got the confirmation email. They agreed to cancel no problem, but they still wanted their fee, which is close to $200 for nothing! I asked them how they could not honor their cancellation policy within 24 hours on a booking 3 months in advance. They kept reciting “we told you” and you called us, which I did not. They are liars and cheats. They did absolutely nothing worth $200. I cancelled my credit card and disputed the charge.
National Park Reservations Reviews & Complaints
I am planning to visit Yosemite Park in May. I looked at the official site for hotels. When I was ready to book I went back on the net and thought I went to the same site. I ended up at National Park Reservation that sounds official. I followed the instructions for getting a reservation. It said I needed to list my 3 choices for housing and dates. I got a call saying that there was a cancellation at the Curry Village and that it was available immediately. I asked if others were available, but was told they are booked up way in advance. I was quoted a price and that I need to pay a 50% deposit. I thought it was all legitimate. I even told others that I was lucky to get a reservation. I thought it was slightly strange to having everything booked in this economic climate. I was putting info into my garmin for the trip and went to the official site to get address. I decided to check on availablity for the fun of it and if anything was open in the hotel I preferred. I was amazed to find out that all the hotels were available most days in May. I called to change reservation and was told my original reservation was not through them, but through a private company that charged a fee for the reservation. I went to the website. It looked official. I did not see anything about a fee or that they were not official reservation service. If it is there, it is not easily apparent. I went to my confirmation and it did see that there was a fee at the bottom. I hadn’t read that before. I called the cancellation number and message did state that they were not the official site and they charged a fee. It would have been nice to know that before making the reservation. I submitted cancellation through the on-line system too. I never talked to anyone except the person who called me. I feel pretty dumb about being suckered in. I have had other problems with bigger companies that this. It almost seems like normal for business to deceive or defraud people. Everyone needs to closely look at bills and credit cards. I continually find charges that have been not authorized or wanted.
National Park Reservations Reviews & Complaints
I attempted to make a reservation for the Yosemite Falls Lodge for May 2012. Yosemite Lodge was not available, so National Park Reservations made a reservation for my second choice of lodging, the Awahnee Hotel, at a surprise rate of $542/night! I cancelled, but National Park Reservations charged me a non-refundable fee of $164.14. They claimed that the fee was mentioned in their terms and conditions. California contract law requires any business dealing involve a clear agreement and definite terms. If a vendor want to claim that a contract was made, they cannot hide a fee in their fine print. Nor can they give a RANGE of prices for a variety of hotel options, and still claim that “definite terms” were agreed to. National Park Reservation”s $164.14 surprise fee is unethical and illegal. I will deny payment.
National Park Reservations Reviews & Complaints
I thought I was dealing with the National Park’s service as this company’s website looks like an official park’s site. This company recommended an extremely overpriced hotel, St Mary’s Resort at Glacier National Park. It was a dump in which I paid over $200 a night after hotel rate, tax and 10% reservation fee. It was the worst place I’ve ever stayed and one of the most expensive. Number one, this company should make it clear that they are a privately owned company and number two, they should not be recommending properties that they know nothing about. Number 3, the St. Mary’s website misrepresents the property unless you are willing to pay $300 plus a night. This place should be closed down for fraudulent practices. I would not have stayed here if it had not been recommended by the National Parks Reservation personel.

I used this site to book a lodge In Yosemite Park. Please beware this is an agency that charges 10% booking fees which are not disclosed at the time of room reservation. I tried to cancel the reservation and none was refundable. Don’t use this agency. Go directly to the hotel website to book.
