For the past few months I have been receiving a $14.95 charge monthly on my credit card statement from Norm Thompson Rewards. I should have caught this before but didn’t until this month when there was both a May and a June change on the same statement. I contacted the “Membership Service” – a woman answered but could tell me which company she represented because it was obviously a marketing firm that represented a number of companies. In the end it was obvious that I inadvertently took a discount that had a rewards program attached to it when I placed an order back in July 2009. There was some trial period and then the automatic monthly charges started. Confirmation of membership came in the email related to the order I placed, which I probably didn’t read because I had already printed a confirmation out. The Customer Service supervisor was able to cancel my membership in this program and refund about half of the automatic charges. She cited policy and the fact that I could have cancelled anytime which I would have if I had caught it sooner. I really didn’t have time to fight about this further. This is the lowest type of trick marketing. Who ever heard of paying monthly to belong to a rewards program. I won’t be spending any more money ever with Norm Thompson or its affiliates Solutions or Sahalie. Its too bad because I really liked some of their products. Kathy Hall
