9th of April, 2018 Dear Peugeot Customer Service My name is Adel Kamel El Baradie from Egypt, I bought a brand new Peugeot 508 end of 2013, i.e. model 2014, my car motor no. is (1851213) & Chassis (638). My current distance kilometer is approx. 84, 000 km. Few days back, I recognized that my car is jerking while shifting from 3rd to 4th gear and the same happens from 5th to 6th gear. I took my car for checkup with CDCM Peugeot ex dealer, they confirmed that my gearbox broke-down as a result of a problem in the cooler which ended up to the gearbox oil mixing up with engine cooling water. Being an ex-dealer the recommended a complete over whole for the gear box at a very high cost around EGP 60, 000 equivalent to approx. EUR 3000. I was really shocked to hear this especially I never heard about similar problem with any Peugeot model. I decided to contact Mansour, the new Peugeot dealer in Egypt who said they will be officially in charge of the brand as of 1st of April 2018 and they recommended another authorized Peugeot service center called Saudi. I went to Saudi service centre and they confirmed the same gear box problem, but they had a different repairing methodology. They decided to change the cooler and wash up the gear box 3 times with a very expensive gear box oil to remove any traces of water from the gear box; they recommended the same for the engine cooling water. Cost was around EUR 900 and results were not confirmed, they also recommended repeating the same procedure after driving for 1000 km. I agreed and they took 2 working days to do the above repairs. Honestly there was no improvement at all. I contacted Mansour once more to consult them, there call centre agent took my complaint and promised someone will get back to which never happened and this was when I decided to contact the brand owner. I here complain about my gear box failure at less than 84, 000 km which is considered a manufacturing defect that needs to be fixed through and at the expense of Peugeot. I also complain about the service quality of Mansour the new Peugeot dealer in Egypt. I would like also to drive your kind attention that I am doing the regular maintenance for the car on exact timings and please check my records with CDCM. My last check was at 75, 000 km. PS: I had the same problem with my ex car Volkswagen Jetta. Fortunately they were very professional and changed my gear box without any cost through their dealer in Egypt. I expect the same treatment from a big brand name that cares about their customer satisfaction and brand reputation like Peugeot. All necessary documents are available upon your request.
