Few months ago, I started getting few magazines that I did not subscribe. Magazine companies could not cancel as it was requested by Publications Unlimited. I called Publications Unlimited and they said they will cancel the order, but will take 4-6 weeks. Several weeks later, I got a call from some one claiming to help us cancel, by reducing number of magazines to 2 instead of 6. I told her that this was supposed to be cancelled long ago and I wanted to confirm I do not owe any money, I was told that owed them $695. They can adjust it for $195. I called up Publications Unlimited after getting their number magazie (one of the magazines I was getting), I was promised that they will cancell it right away and I do not owe them any money. But, again, they will need 4 – 6 weeks to close this completely. I think this is a scam that need to be fixed before more people are cheated.

I am a regular subscriber to the New Yorker and my subscription is renewed annually and automatically through them. We have received two copies of the last two issues of the magazine. I called the New Yorker and I was told that Publications Unlimited had submitted a subscription order on my behalf on or about April 17th. That order was not authorized, should be canceled by you, and any proceeds charged to my account remitted. Also can you please let me know the details of how and why the order was placed. The number of the address label of your subscription is NYR1072748922/0#. I called and left a message but the call has not been returned. If you would like to reach me to discuss please call my law office at [protected].

I had been receiving Discover magazine, which we enjoyed. Then in April 2017, I decided we needed to save money and called Discover to cancel. I learned the info about Publications Unlimited and called them. It took a lot of pressure on our part to get satisfaction. The woman couldn’t find my name at first. Then she located the account. It’s too late to cancel the account because the renewal had been in December. Then under pressure, she said they’ll cancel it, but not send a refund check. Further pressure in that same phone call got her to say she’ll send out a check next month (May). So this last magazine issue would be the final one. Now I have received my second issue along with a bill. I called Discover and took down notes, along with the name of the representative. I then called Publications Unlimited, but got a recording that it was past their hours.

I recently started receiving magazines from Fitness and Women”s Health- two subscriptions I never signed up for. I contacted the magazines directly and they told me that I had been signed up through Publications Unlimited and that I couldn”t cancel my subscription- only the agency could. They provided me with an 800# to call Publications Unlimited and it was an invalid number. i called it and a recording came on telling me that “A message could not be recorded for this number. Goodbye.” I then turned to Google to try and find any contact information- their website has nothing! I”m VERY irritated! How am I supposed to cancel these fraudulent subscriptions if I cannot get ahold of the company?! I have gone over my bank statements and do not see any charges on my accounts, however I am worried that they may be billing an old credit card or something and I do not want my credit ruined because they are running some kind of scam.

I unknowingly signed up to get 5 different magazines from Publications Unlimited, which include Marie Claire, Star, Glamour, Shape, and Self. On top of these I have been getting People, Cosmo, Automobile, ESPN, Golf Digest, and Parent. I would be fine if I didn’t have to PAY for the 6 extra magazines they are sending me that I DIDN’T sign up for! I tried to just cancel my whole order of the original 5 but they said that I had a contract with the magazines that I couldn’t cancel. I didn’t sign anything and never talked to the magazines so there isn’t even a chance of a verbal contract. I don’t want magazines I won’t use and don’t want to pay for them to just be thrown away! And everytime I try to call, I have to call about 5 or 6 times before I get someone because I didn’t call during “business hours of 9-5 of EST” which, in fact, I did.
