I found a house for rent on craigslist. it seemed too good to be true, but i was caught up in the moment because i have been searching and searching, and finally this opportunity came up and i didn’t want to miss out on it. so when i quickly got an email response saying that require a driver’s license, first months rent, a background check and no pet deposit, I was thrilled! so I clicked on the link for the background check, paid the $40, and let”Jocelyn” know that I had completed it. the rest of the day went by and I didn’t get another email back about when I could look at the place. so I called the number from rental verified and it was a woman who could barely speak English and told me that the company that had that phone number had changed their phone number so for my inconvenience they were offering me$400 vouchers to Wal-Mart and so on. I hung up. and then it clicked…. so I did a Google search for rental verified scam, and sure enough I have not been the only one.
