RHEEM COMPLETE A/C SYSTEM… this is my shoutout for anyone who can help me yell, holler, bello etc. to get help here… I had a new A/C System installed 9.18.14 and have since then had no proper a/c, constant having to call the installer who replaced coils and as late as yesterday, added some sealant and a new coil… obviously there is freaking freon leaking and when I contacted RHEEM at their headquarters, they claimed no responsibilitu///shoved it back to the installer and the Rheem supplier down here in S. Florida… when I contacted Rheem 9.8.14, I was told by Melissa, and then Troy, supervisor, that I had to deal with the distributor… Rheem claims no responsibility…I have tried to reach the President of the company and am on hold until I am given to a voicemail to leave my name and number…just today, I tried again, 9.18.14, to no avail- I left 2 message with Ms. Collins… the number I called today was 479.648.4940 every which way I try, I bump into walls and no help… the Rheem installer claims not to know what to do… HELP! PLEASE!

Since it’s installation 3 years ago, the Rheem air conditioning system at our townhome has been nothing but a source of expense and incredible aggravation! Approximately a year in service, teh first air handler coil failed and Rheem would only cover the part, not the $1,100 in removal and re-installation as well as recharging the system. We are now on our 3rd air handler coil with ensuit installation costs once again over $1,200 and have also now had to replace a corroded suction muffler as well. We were told by contractor to “be ready” to do this all over again as Rheem has not addressed teh issue and would much rather see the consumer suffer through another sweltering summer with no air conditioning until parts are shipped.

Had a Rheem GT-199DVN-2 tankless installed in a new home construction. After 20 months the circuit board went out. Rheem admits to bad boards from their supplier. This was an $1800 water heater with installation. Parts are warrantied for three years but labor to install parts is on the consumer after one year. This work is $100 an hour. The repair did not last two hours after the technician left. Over the next 30 days we had to pay for installation of 2 boards, a gas valve, and the controller, all while having no hot water. We were eventually reimbursed for all but $200 of the repair costs. The repairs lasted until November (3 1/2 months) and it started to fail again. I finally yanked the piece of junk off the wall and installed a tank type heater. I wrote a letter to the CEO of Rheem and quoted him their own quality policy. I’ve had no reply. If you are thinking of buying a Rheem water heater, save yourself a lot of grief. Rheem uses cheap foreign parts and does not stand behind their products.

Hi I purchased a 40 gallon Rheem gas hot water tank at zHome Depot on May 14/18 and had it installed same day by licensed plumber/gasfitter. For past 10 days have smelled natural gas in varying levels throughout the house. Had the plumber back x2 to recheck where he had connected the heater and could find no leaks. Headaches and nausea continued, but I put it down to cold/flu symptoms. Then last night the plumber removed manufacturer”s coverplate and discovered hairline crack through their factory installed hardware! Called Rheem Canada in Brampton Ontario, and they advised me there would be a “part in the mail” next week. Thought it was lax on their end to send me a “part” with my layperson”s explanation of what was cracked, along with being very dissatisfied with having to wait the remainder of this week and into next for resolution especially after suffering due to THEIR DEFECT for past 10 days. Asked if they had a service person in wpg area who could perhaps more quickly repair the problem. They said they did but it was likely he wouldn”t have the correct part and I would …have to wait for next week and “part in the mail” to arrive. Still don”t know if they are sending correct part or when it will arrive. As for service person???? Can”t believe their attitude. Is there something else I can do?

I bought a Rheem Water heater at Home Depot in Daphne, AL two weeks ago. From the start it leaked on the cold water supply side. Technical assistance sent two nipples and contracted a plumber to replace. Even after replacement of the two nipples, the leak was still there. Reaching out again to their customer support they indicated they had no contracting companies around Mobile, and that I had to hire a plumber myself for replacement and reinstallation. Meaning I would have to pay upfront and then invoice Rheem. They are not even interested in picking up their piece of junk back to investigate further the quality escape. Now I am struggling to get reimbursed because these helpless and careless are asking for a proof of payment I provided them with already. THey want a proof that the check was cleared by the bank. These [censored]s are not even able to call the plumber to check if the check has been endorsed. Honestly, they should drop their current business for two reasons: poor product quality and very low-grade customer support. Don’t buy their junk, you will definitely save money and time.

I bought my house brand new . The Rheem A/C has been performing terribly. I paid for a second inspection a year deployment to the Middle East. Here is the write up from the inspector: We recommend consulting with two different outside licensed HVAC contractors to evaluate entire system. The system has three zones with only one return (all of the homes with dual or multiple zone systems has a return for each system. Especially the Master bedroom) In addition, based on the past issues with the system. i.e. photo summary 3 indicates the system has a low Freon level: that the main suction line should be further repaired or replaced. Also the large bedrooms should have two supply vents for proper CFU supplies. One of the bedrooms was split with the bathroom, which made that bedroom very deficient on air supply. The downstairs laundry room and half bathroom appear to have oversized lines supplied to these rooms. In our opinion. Additional returns are needed in the Master and downstairs. As well as the bedrooms should all have two supply lines of the proper size and the sized of supply lines feeding the downstairs bathroom and laundry room should be 4 inch lines. See photo summary 1 of the damage insulation line on the exterior suction line, photo summary 2 is the picture of the one supply vent for the large bedroom and photo summary 4 is the split line to cover the large front bedroom and hall bathroom. Photo summary 5 is the unit in the attic. Photo summary 6 is a picture of the wiring installation of the multi-zone board. For the next three years I”ve had one problem after another due to poor installation. The unit freezes up; the pan constantly fills with water; and it doesn”t cool properly. I”ve spent thousands in repair. Today a representative from Fergason, care of Rheem, was called in by Hoyt”s Heating and Air to look at the unit because they are no longer able to repair it. He said that the duct work was done wrong. There aren”t any intakes on the first floor when their are three zones in the house: two zones on the first floor and one on the second. He also said they took the unit apart to put it in the attic and they put it together wrong. The drain pan is on the ceiling causing damage. The unit is bowing in the middle because cinder blocks were placed near the outsides of the unit. This is causing the coils to leak. He also said the duct work is short causing cold air to come back on the coils and causing it to freeze up. He was so disappointed with the installation that he recommended a complete new unit be ordered and installed. I feel like I”ve been cheated by Hurricane builders; the company that installed the unit; and Rheem. I”m stuck with all of these problems that should”ve been built correctly in the first place.

Rheem Air Conditioning sent a rep to look at unit and all we got was wrong from duct work to unit installed by electric company. I have a similar problem (as Collin) with my Rheem Model 21VR75N 75 gallon Water Heater. In my case the water heater (WH) leaked towards the back of the unit so I didn”t see that the leak soaked into the house/garage. I bought my house new and the builder put the water heater on a wood/sheetrock platform. I”m 8 months out of warranty but it appears the unit was leaking for quite a while. I appear to have corrosian at the top causing leaking. I replaced the nipples connecting to the WH but the leak continues. I built a house and have done a lot of plumbing so when I say I properly prepared the threads before screwing the new nipples in, I really did it correctly. I almost think something else is leaking. Beacause I reported after the warranty expired, Rheem will not cover. They had their insurance company contact me becasue the water damage has caused the platform to deteriorate, the WH now leans against the wall, and this new contact allowed more water to soak into a new section of the wall/house/garage. I won”t be making a caim though becuase the Rheem insurance company insists I have to pay (about $1, 000) a Forensic Engineer to prove there is a defect. I”m calling a lawyer first, but it will cost about $1, 000 to repair the damage so why should I pay $1, 000 for an engineer, then fight with the insurance Co just to get the repair money? Sorry to be politically incorrect here, but Big Business can do this to the little guy because (in general) the Republicans have spent the past 8 years passing law to protect business at the expense of the consumer. It”s time to change that!

I purchased a Rheem Classic Central A/C unit at the very end of 2006. In 2009 the exterior fan motor broke and had to be replaced. in 2011 a capacitor/condenser broke and had to be replaced. a week ago the water pan under the coils cracked and the unit is leaking water. Water pan and coils are one piece, so the whole thing has to be replaced. Quote – Cost of this last repair $600.00 I tried calling Rheem to complain about this and the sales rep pretty much told me that this was my fault for having a 7 years old unit. It didn”t matter what I tried to explain to her, her words were blaming me and blaming the weather. I tried to ask for a supervisor, manager, anybody else who could help, she said the complaint stopped at her desk and nobody else could help. I don”t know what else I can do other than complain at all the rheem complain forums, BBB, etc, etc. But this is really bad becuse if their units are faulty they need to replace them at no cost. In total I will have paid close to $1, 500 in repairs since I purchased this unit, so the real cost of the whole thing is close to $4, 000 for a 2 ton. INSANE. They don”t listen, they are blaming the customer.
