Beware of this business! In January we booked a condominium in Hilton Head for July 14 -21st, through Seabreeze Real Estate Services which also trades as Seabreeze Maximum Vacation Rentals (“Seabreeze”), located at 78 Arrow Road, Suite B, Hilton Head, SC. The licensee for this outfit is Cameron J. Haught (license number REL.13096). The website they use is We choose this unit because it was only a short walk to the beach and because it had a separate master bedroom with a King sized bed away for our 4 children. We paid an initially deposit of $627.50 on January 17, 2018. On June 27, 2018 we made a final payment in the amount of 837. Three days before we were scheduled to leave, I called Seabreeze to make arrangements to have a package delivered to me while we were in Hilton Head. To my surprise, I was informed that we had been moved to another unit, but was told we were upgraded. I asked for the property address to which we were being moved and when I viewed it online I discovered that the unit we were moved to was a 7 minute drive to the beach and that the unit only had Queen beds. After spending a few days in Hilton Head, the 7 minute drive is actually more like 15 minuntes. Considering that we specifically wanted to be within walking distance of the beach, I immediately objected. Seabreeze then claimed that they sent an email to me in February. I never received any such email and Seabreeze admitted it never made any attempt to confirm that I had received the email. Even when I called to make the final payment on June 27, 2018 and provided the original property address, nothing was said to me. When I questioned why nothing was said about the move when I made the final payment and provided the original address, I was told “That was a failure on our part”. Initially Seabreeze refused to move us to another unit closer to the beach with a King bed, claiming that they did not have “any inventory available”. Seabreeze then tried to have us accept a 2 bedroom unit, but that doesn’t work out for our family of 6. Eventually we contacted VRBO. Immediately upon being contacted by VRBO they cancelled our reservation and told VRBO that it would refund our money. They did not and we were forced to use the monies we had saved for our vacation to rent another unit. If you are considering doing business with this outfit, I would strongly advise you to book with another company, regardless of how much you like the unit. It was only after filing complaints with the BBB and the Consumer Protective Agency did Seabreeze begin the refund process. Unfortunately, if you find yourself in this position, there is very little that the town of HIlton Head or VRBO will do to help you. You will be on your own.
