I am the owner of several Sears Craftsman Professional Sump Pumps, Model 83-3050 that have had a “Guaranteed Forever” lifetime replacement warranty. Since late last year Sears Craftsman is now refusing to honor their lifetime warrantee. Today the new Sears Craftsman Professional Sump Pumps Model 83-3050 models sold in Sears stores show a “3 Year Warrantee” instead of the “Guaranteed Forever” warrantee. The model number and product name are exactly the same but now with a reduced warrantee. I understand they may change the warrantee on new sump pumps but existing owners are being told Sear Craftsman is no longer honoring this “Guaranteed Forever” lifetime warrantee that was clearly shown on their packaging and is prominently shown in their included Installation and Maintenance manual. For people bringing back a pump that is defective they are being told that Sears Craftsman is arbitrarily now declining to honor their “Guaranteed Forever” lifetime warrantee and only when a customer pushes do they offer a cash refund. I have long been a Sears Craftsman customer and my hand and garden tools are all Craftsman because they offered a lifetime replacement warranty. I understand they can change the warrantee contract for new sump pump buyers but the customers who had purchased these pumps with a “Guaranteed Forever” lifetime replacement warranty as a commitment from Sears Craftsman should continue to be honored. If they wanted to delineate new 3 year warrantee pumps from the older “Guaranteed Forever” lifetime replacement warranty Sears should have changed the model number and continued to honor their promise to loyal customers like me. Sears did not do this. What is next will Sears Craftsman next arbitrarily decide not to honor their warranty commitment on my Craftsman socket set, pliers or garden rake? I hope there is some help for us to get Sears to honor their “Guaranteed Forever” lifetime replacement warranty.
