So, I went to the South Bay Wax & Lash Spa to try a coupon that a friend got me, and I just had the worst experience ever with a beauty procedure. The certificate stated that I could get 2 waxing sessions for the price of one, which was greatly appreciated because my hair is thick. But not only did they not honor my certificate, but messed up the whole session, making me feel so much pain that I cried, and answering to my complaint with ”it’s your fault honey”… What kind of business are you trying to run blaming the customers for your mistakes?
I got a bit late for my first appointment, the girl was very nice, she didn’t look mad because I made her wait or anything, so I thought that it would be a great experience for free. The girl wouldn’t leave the room, and they didn’t have a space where I could undress privately, she wouldn’t even look away! I thought this was her normal routine, so even though I felt uncomfortable, I did it. The table was all sticky and wet (probably from a previous session), it was so disgusting, adding up to the uneasiness I was feeling already.
The start wasn’t great, but there was no reason for me to think that the actual process would be awful. Once the wax first touched my body, it was so hot I screamed, I turned away from the girl and told her the wax was burning. She said the wax was at the right temperature, not even checking the wax, she got mad at me for reacting like that, and wasn’t as nice during the rest of the season.
Honestly, I was so afraid of her that I had to swallow my tears every time she ripped the wax out, I’ve done it before, and it had never hurt that much. But this time it was just so painful, my voice was cracked after the session because I had held the tears for so long. When I got home, my legs didn’t feel normal, it was as if the effect of the wax was still there, so I took a bath, and even that hurt horribly. My legs were so red and jagged, I called the spa that same day, and the girl said that it was all because I moved the first time, she hadn’t applied all the wax when I did, so what kind of excuse is that?
I actually had to pay for the first session since they insisted the second one was the free one, so I paid, and now I have lost the certificate, my money and my legs are red with incredible pain. Yes, I called them asking for a refund, and yes, they said it was not possible because it was My fault that the girl made every possible mistake with the waxing. I am not going there for the second time; I’ll also make sure all my friends know about this horrible place.
