Good Afternoon Visit to San Francisco Spur, Strand yesterday, Sunday, 18 March 2018. My 92-year old Mother and I arrived just after 12h00 to a rather empty restaurant – we were seated against the window and given menus. As we were handed only the senior menu, I requested to see the normal menu from another server – eventually I had to get up and collect it myself! We had taken our own wine and were just waiting for glasses and ice… eventually at around 12h25 we were given glasses and ice. While we were making up our minds as to what we wanted to eat, another, very irate customer behind us got up and wanted to know when they were going to be served – from what I could gather they had already ordered their food. My mother and I placed our order around 12h40 – only to receive our food at 13h30, which I find completely unacceptable as we only ordered the senior ribs and the wings & mushroom combo from the senior menu, nothing too complicated! While we were waiting for our food, another party of 4 came in and sat down two tables ahead of us – they were there for about 20 minutes when one of the ladies asked when they were going to be served. Then, another party of 3 came in and sat opposite us, and after about 20 minutes as well, the lady got up and went to ask when they were going to be served. All this time there was no manager to be seen and while we can understand this to happen when the restaurant is full, we fail to see how a half empty Spur could affect service so badly. The quality of the food was mediocre at best, the lady behind me had to send her chicken back as it wasn”t cooked through properly – our food was cold but by that time we were so hungry that we just wanted to eat. If the restaurant was full, one could understand that the kitchen staff is under pressure, and that mistakes happen but the restaurant only started filling up when most of us were leaving… As regular Spur customers, we really want to bring this to your attention as eating out is a luxury for most of us and we would like to have an enjoyable experience. Good afternoon, i am not one for complaining but because this is happening on one or more occasions i have had enough as i am paying extra monies for orders been incorectly charged.My family and i go on a regular basis to the Red Hawk Spur for the Monday special, on Saturdays the breakfast, and on Sundays lunch.On the 24 th March my family and i went to the spur, we ordered half portion chicken Schnitzel with creamy cheese prawn, a chicken and mayo sandwich with a large chips, two kiddies waffles, a goodie burger with top up of buffalo wings(8)a 400g chips and Ribs, two cocktail fruit shakes, and two chocolate milkshakes, when the bill came i was charged for a full portion of chicken schnitzel difference of R40 already, there was a take away ribs on there as well, but we sat and had ribs, we were charged for 3 cocktail fruit shakes, had to be for two chocolate milkshakes and two shakes, the large chips came with no sandwich, we were so angry we just left everything and paid, but asked for the take away ribs which were charged for, it was really bad we left thinking should we from know on go to another Spur close by, we spent R690 that day.i paid R290 from my debit card and my son R400 from his.On my slip is IN0014764 CO 0069159 AT 16H44.

Good day I had a very bad experience yesterday at spur in Summerstrand Port Elizabeth and left a bad taste in my mouth. I made a booking three weeks back for my kids birthday party. I phone them back three days before the party just to confirm the amount of children and adults. When I got there yesterday 3:40 there my tables hasn’t been set up and guest and myself had to wait 30 min before we could be seated. I went to the manager and he had to move people from their seats and in order to make space for us witch is so unfair because they had to make the necessary arrangements for that. Then one hour later the tables was set and we were officially seated. When we had to order there was only one waitor who served 34 people one person the other person that was there basically just walking around because when she took orders people had to walk after her to make sure I get there orders. We waited long for food drinks and everything it was very unprofessional service. To top everything off when the bill come they had problems with the system and printing they loaded everything on one bill. The people got frustrated and went to pay on their own and the bill was so messed up they didn’t take everything off the slip and I had to pay in witch is unfair they didn’t do their job right and the one waitor was so flusted he didn’t know if the was coming or going the service of the management was incompetent. This is the first time I received such bad service from spur. Good day My wife an I went to the spur in blue route mall we placed an order for old school burgers a single and a double. Well my understanding is spur makes fresh food wrong spur still makes instance burgers tough hard taste less and the pan fried onions wrong at this spur they do deep fries ones. I asked to speak to a manager and a young lady come to the table she did not introduce her self but hay all cool I told her what I thought went down in back of house she could not say anything ok but the best part was that the operator who was there did not leave the pass as that must be the most important place in the shop not the front door or the guest. Good Day We have been going Sunset Bay Spur for 5 years now. In the last year the services as dropped dramatically. There is always a problem with the items being out of stock and this is even out of season. Also we have to wait for our food coming not at the same time. The Managers just don”t care when you ask them to help you. When you book a table the table was given to someone else even if we on time. We get seated by the manager and don”t get services. Only when you confront them then they will help. The waiters will stare at you when you ask for help and just flat out ignore you and look away. Good Morning I trust that you are doing well this morning Me and my family do make use of your spur 2 to 3 times a month and we also have a couple of parties that we attend at your spur in Lavender road, I would just like to bring under your attention your bathroom facilities. It is not the first time that we feel this way that is why I have decided to write you an email. On Saturday 09/02/2019 we attended a birthday party at 13:00 so the restaurant was busy and it is as if there is no attention given to the hygiene in the bathroom and your extractor fans either needs to be serviced or you need bigger extractor fans, the ladies bathroom was not only dirty but it smelled foul. The same was with the men”s bathroom it was filthy and did not smell very well. Even my 4 year old did not want to use your bathroom as it was disgusting. The one tap was out of order and the soap dispenser was broken and the soap was dripping into bowls that was overflowing in the woman”s bathroom. I would not want to have to use another spur but we all felt that it was disappointing and I do use your facilities often and If there is little or no improvement I unfortunately will have to go somewhere else. I hope in future this can be sorted as we do like to make use of this particular spur.

Good morning, l am raising a very bad experience l had at your branch in Polokwane. Had a meal for four people, having taken a family l visited in Limpopo out. The meal was served on chopping boards as plates, this was highly distasteful and bears high health risk! I was very disappointed, that the line manager could not correct the matter or give a reasonable explanation. Greetings on the 6/11/17 I went to Spur in Grahamstown I ordered my meal which I have no compliant over the problem was when I asked to order a original spur waffle. I was told by our waitress that waffles aren”t available today to which I expressed my disappointment. While I was still at the Spur I could smell waffles being made when I was about to leave the restaurant I asked the hostess why I can smell waffles if they unavailable for the day she then told me waffles are available but they were preparing an order of 40 which was due to arrive soon. Now my problem then becomes why I was not told the truth and why are customers wanting to place a particular order being turned down. I would have very much appreciated being told that perhaps my waffle will take slightly longer not be lied to just to find out that waffles are actually available. I love the Grahamstown Spur and I frequent there often but I was very disappointed this time

Hi I am Mr Abraham”s from 10 St. Ives, 1 Sutton avenue, Umhlanga. It saddens me to send this complaint. This is the second time we ordered food from spur via the Uber app. I regret to say that on both occasions I was not happy. Tonight we ordered 2 X cheddarmelt burgers with chips and onion rings, 1 X hot wings with sweet potato chips and 400g burger. The order arrived with 2 X cheddarmelt burgers with 1 portion of chips, 2 portions of sweet potato chips and hot wings. My order was not complete it was missing 1 X portion of chips, 2 portions of onion rings and 400g ribs. My total order was R481 and R10 for Uber trip. I ordered my food at 7:35pm my food arrived at 8:24pm which was fine. The Uber drive went back to spur to pick up the balance of my food as per the manager”s instructions. I phone the spur branch at 8:55pm asking when can I get my food delivered as my family are waiting to eat. The lady replied it”s on its way. I replied thank you. The Uber driver arrived at 21:14 with the balance of my delivery of my food and a portion of onion rings were not there. Now I”m not sure what is going on at spur but to leave out another item is not on. I am not sure why spur does not take orders via phone anymore but this system does not work. Hi I ordered dinner through Mr D online, the order was acceptedn and My money was deducted off my card. The message said the delivery would take 40 minutes plus minus. 40 minutes later I get a message from Mr D to say my order was cancelled! When I called Mr D they told me that Spur Edenglen Ottawa told them that the Mr D driver arrived to collect the order and had miss placed the order so it was not made and now they were closed. This is disgusting service and I really hope Spur Head Office does something about as they brining your name into disrepute.

I”m trying to help the Smith family from Benoni to raise funds for their little 3year old daughter Chi-Nelri Smith”s medical bills and expenses their medical aid fund doesn”t cover. She had to have a liver transplant to save her live after her heart stopped. She was born with the condition Hypercholestolaemi which basically means she inherited. 2 Afrikaner genes one from her mom Chivon and one from her dad Steve and that causes very high cholesterol. She had the liver transplant and the medication she is using for her body to not reject her new liver is immune depressants which in short means the DR”s have to keep her immune system low for her new liver not being rejected but it also means she get sick very easily. She was in the hospital last week again for bacterial infection where the new liver was attached called gram negative bacilli which is Sepsis an Klebsiella bacteria… She need to go back to hospital next week again to have a scope done which wasn”t done because the medical aid fund doesn”t cover it… Please a beg you we really need funds to pay for everything the medical aid isn”t paying for and all her day today expenses. All I”m trying to do is to help a small little angle child Chi-Nelri Smith to stay alive and have a future with her family. Without funds she will not all the treatment and test done to keep her alive!!! Hi. I was at Spur in Kroonstad with my family on the 23 October 2017. The food was very tasteful and the waiters were very helpful. You could see that they enjoy their job to serve their costumers, very friendly service! As my family and I were enjoying ourselves, I could not help but hear a conversation between a waiter and the manager/operator (A white lady with short hair, wearing a white shirt). She was talking very loudly, almost screaming, so anyone could”ve heard her. She was scolding the waiter about a mistake he made. That was not nice to hear. Sounds like the manager/operator has no respect for her waiters even though he did not even talk back to her, just said sorry, sorry, sorry. I like to come to Spur but I don”t like the unprofessional way people are being treated there. It was the first time I heard something like that and I hope it was the last. Spur”s food and service ROCKS!! I hope the manager/operator will behave kindly to the waiters or will give the waiters the needed training to not do anything wrong again. Thank you for your time! Horrible, horrible, horrible is what I can say to describe our experience at the Spur located at City Mall in Lilongwe. They served us rotten potatoes that smelt and looked disgusting. After sending them back the waiter opted to bring rice, which which was brought cold and also appeared to be left over rice from a day or so. The barbecue and tomato sauces at the table had also been diluted with water, which could clearly be noticed due to the overly runny state of the sauces (this is a common occurrence in small restaurants here who do such pathetic things in order to cut down on cost, something which is totally unacceptable). The rest of the food was then brought to us cold. We asked the waiter to call the manager so that he hear the complaints we had about the appalling state of the food but he neglected to address us. Instead he wondered off into the back, leaving us to deal with the disgusting food, which we had no choice but to toss to the side, and forced us to pay the bill. Please look into this and improve on this immediately or shut it down because this was simply unacceptable.

I am a frequent patron of the spur steak ranches in the western cape area, this has now obviously come to am abrupt end as I have now for the 3rd time in the space of 2months found a hair in my food!!! This of course disgusted me to a point where I needed to run to the bathroom in fear of regurgitating what I had already consumed. Then when calling the manager to tell them about it she looks at me as the I put it in there myself. The first time I had found hair in food was at vangate mall, the second time was also at vangate mall then the 3rd time was at the waterfront last week. I am sending this email to lodge a formal complaint against the operations manager at Little Creek Spur, Tokai. I was a waitron at this store for quite some time, but recently resigned due to the lack of proper management, discrimination against my sexuality and very offensive verbal encounters with the second in charge which has done nothing but break my spirit and bruise my character as a person – to the point where I no longer felt any form of enjoyment coming in for my scheduled shifts. Where I no longer had any motivation to even do favors for the store anymore; such as planning theme evenings, like Valentine”s Day decorations and Halloween decorations etc. These events were always things that I looked forward to until I reached the point where I no longer had any motivation to lend my assistance. On Monday, the 3rd of February I decided to treat myself to wholesome a lunch at Little Creek instead of the Spur right opposite my new place of work. Because despite all my feelings towards the management of the store, it has become my second home, filled with friendly and polite faces that have become my family. During my time there that day, I had one glass of cool drink whist I was in the smoking area, and at that same time my high school teacher had come in and we decided that we would get something to eat together and catch up. But before I could sit down and eat with her, Warren had called me over and told me that I was no longer welcome in this store. And I was told where the door was and told to leave. I then had to go and tell my ex teacher that I could not have lunch with her because of what I was just told by the operations manager. I found the whole ordeal very uncalled for and very very embarrassing. I did not cause any scene, I did not disturb anyone from their work. So I therefore felt like there was no reason to be told to leave the way that I did. I feel that it was very unprofessional, coming from my ex superior who always preached about professionalism towards customers to me when I was an employee there. My main concern after this incident, is whether I will be told to leave again when I come and have lunch at Little Creek with my family. Will he always have something to say to me each time I come to the store with my family or on my own for some quiet time. Like he has each time I have paid a visit to the store. This complaint is not a ploy to get him into any serious trouble, but if I had treated a customer the way I was treated and spoken to, I would”ve been reprimanded by him as my ex superior. I feel as if whoever receives this email should take the necessary action, as his superior, to sort this matter out. Because it is highly unprofessional and unnecessary. Kind regards.

I am very disappointed in the service I received at Twin Peak Spur in Ottery.I”m very well aware that it was extremely busy yesterday due to it being Fathers Day.First of all the waiter seated us at about 10:50 and we immediately ordered our breakfast with him.We were a family 4.He was not even wearing your uniform and no name badge.He did not even introduce himself.He then brought us 4 forks only wrapped in 1 serviette.Then he brought us the order of coffee and orange juice.Both the cups were filled half way and the coffee was cold.He did not even bring spoons for the cup.I told him we needed spoons, he only brings one spoon that my wife and I are suppose to share (really).We constantly had to remind him about things.Where is the knives and forks, that eventually we asked another waiter and he brought it in no time.Our breakfast we only received at 11:45.He did not even bring the toast.I had to remind him about that as well.We had already finished our breakfast when he brought us the toast.I eventually sent the toast back and paid for my full meal.I was really disgusted, disappointed and angry that this is how you treat your customers.I will never set foot in that place again.Whether you guys do anything about it…I doubt it.

I booked a table for my daughters birthday party for the 25th. I made the booking approx two weeks prior. I requested a table from the manager that made the booking that would be convenient for my family and being able to keep a eye on my children. The manager confirmed with me and i was looking forward to her party. On the day i arrived at 17:00 fot the booking to find another kiddies party on the table i requested for. I was told the tables cannot be requested due to the amount of birthday parties on the day but it was confirmed by the manager i spoke to. We were given a table for the adults and a seperate table for the children where we cannot see them. Also we had a pram with and the allocated table also did not allow to have the pram with us as well. Where the table i requested offered everything we needed. I spoke with 3 different managers in store and all of them apologised saying there was nothing they could do. After arrival that was 17:00 we only received our drinks order at 18:10. With this we oreded 3 kiddies chocolate milksakes. Only 2 arrived at the table and my daughter never got one. Again we asked the manager to explain to my daugher where is her milkshake as all the other kids recived there drinks already. Another 5 minute wait and my daughter received her milkshake. Our food arrived at 18:40. This time already my daughter whos birthday it is, is fast asleep already. She never ate her food as it took too long. The desert that was included in the bithday pack came and the waiters sang to a child that was fast asleep. Again she did not have her ice cream or enjoyed her birthday at Spur Bigbay. I am so disappointed in the poor service we recieved and the lack from management. How can you run a bussiness like this. You are not customer centric and make your customers feel small with poor service and neglect. Waiting almost two hours just to eat and having kids thats hungry and telling them to wait their food is on the way but not knowing it will take this long. Honestly from my experiance with Spur steak ranches and being a waiter for 3 years. Starting out at Seven Spur in seapoint and being in the Spur that received the number 1 steak ranch in SA. I know service and where it was. Customers are now being neglected and so the children as well where they are the ones who want to go back to Spur. Needless to say our bill came to 1500.. Previous bills at the same spur are always around 800. The previous time we were there we received poor service and the time before that we had a newborn baby with us. When we asked the waitor to bring water for the babies bottle there were black flakes floating in the water…

I bought 600g ribs at spur in secunda today, when I got home those ribs are not well prepared, I couldn”t even eat them I lost appetite completely, because I love their ribs but today I”m so disappointed, and it”s late I cant go back to the restaurant to show them, I don”t think I will ever eat ribs anytime soon because of what I saw, guys even if it can be so full but we want our food well prepared, just image when i got home i thought no today I”m not gonna cook cos i have my favourite meal, only to find this no guys this is totally wrong, i don”t think I will ever go to spur any time soon to order take away, thank u

I called the Silver cloud Spur in Port Elizabeth to arrange my daughters Birthday Party as we are Loyal customers and we have their Birthdays at the same Spur each year for all of our kids. I even went to Silver cloud Spur myself after iv called to confirm the booking for 3pm on Saturday 09 June 2018 not only did i have to look for the waiter several times. The play room staff was rude to the party kids, the kids did not even receive their ice cream at all. After i had paid the bill which was wrong as i was over charged I still had to ask for the Party boxes which was due to me. I am extremely disapointed and was so very embarrased because of this disaster. The party boxes which i have waited so long for them to prepare only then when we were on i way to leave, consists of a finger toy and a string of 3 stickers. When i got home i told myself that im going to call the Manager the Monday and tell him about my complaint he promised to call me back and i have never heard of him since. Silver Cloud Spur is Disapointing and that comes from a loyal client for the past 11 years.

I came into a spur to have supper for me and my daughter I was looking at having some seafood and prawns and my daughter ribs. I asked for the hake and prawns but asked for my prawns to be on a side dish not on the fish so to explain that I pointed a picture in the menu book so my waitor got confused and order me the food on the picture instead as my plate came I thought it”s crumed fish or fried fish only to find out its not its some sort of chicken I don”t understand how that falls under seafood on the menu I call her to explain she calls the manager and they seem to understand next to me but they walk next to the grill and have a loud conversation about what happened regarding me I sat uncomfortable where I was listening to them Quarle the lady comes back and I ask her what was that all about she says manager was shouting at her about the miss understanding and she will have to pay the meal with her tips but I didn”t refuse to pay the bill so I don”t understand I don”t even find it professional to shout in front of customers this all happened in norkem park spur at about 6:30

I have been going to spur since I was a kid and 30 years later still find myself sitting looking at the menu and I so badly want to order the ribs. See having the Spur ribs was a tradition in my family, it was the highlight of the outing. I however get reminded time and time again by my wife that you dont like the ribs anymore… Sadly this is the truth and I order a steak instead. Spurs ribs now seem to be mass produced and precooked giving them a strange texture and toughness. Why in goodness name would you have changed something that wasn”t broken. Please can we have the old spur ribs back ASAP. I have to get my ribs fix elsewhere now a-days.

I ordered a Chicken cheddamelt schnitzel with creamy garlic sauce. What I got was not what I was used to. Dry chicken with a slice of processed cheese melted on top. I”m originally from South Africa and spent many wonderful nights at spur enjoying their delicious food. This was so disappointing. I ordered crumbled mushrooms starter and as I bit into the mushroom I got a fishy taste. As I am allergic to seafood I spat it out immediately into a servieete. When I looked at it it was crumbled calamari mixed with crumbled mushrooms. This is unacceptable. The meals are of a very poor standard and pathetic considering that ushaka is a tourist destination. The bveggies are so dry nothing creamy abt the spinach at all and absolutely no taste. The baked potato was extremely dry and burnt and the jacket had all the roots and spots of a potatoes that was overgrown and rotting. Crumbled mushrooms had batter on it that was three times the size of mushroom it self and no salt. To sum it up a very poor restaurant in an upmarket place that brings down the name of Spur that I am used to. Will never recommend to anyone at all

I ordered nachos at Rustenburg Spur on 30 August. It was the worst I”ve ever eaten. I always order nachos and love it. So I know what it must look and taste like. It was dry with minimum sauce. There was nearly no cheese. A lot of lettuce. I can send you a photo if you wish. I told the waitress that it was the worst dry nachos ever and she just said sorry.

I took my mother for supper this evening on mother’s day(12/05/2019) and unfortunately it was the worst experience we’ve ever had a spur branch. Firstly when we arrived there was no one at the front desk or anyone tk seat us. We waited for about 10 minutes to be seated(not that big of a problem) We were then helped and our orders were taken. Two hours later.. We were still waiting for our food. Eventually I got up and approached the waiter to ask her why our food was taking so long. She then informed me that there was no rolls for the burgers. I then responded saying that she could atleast bring the other food (steak and chicken strips)… Only about 20 minutes after u spoke to her we started to receive our food. One of the orders also didn’t come with the hot veggies that we ordered and we were then told that they were out of veggies too. Then as we were waiting on our drinks.. The waiter came to us to inform us that there’s no ice cream and thag we could no longer have milkshakes… So we ordered regular sodas instead. As we were eating, we noticed that all the people were leaving out the back door(emergency exit) of the spur as they have now closed. So when we finished up and paid, we also walked out that door. Where we were approached by one of the waiters who was very upset about us leaving out that door but yet people have been exiting there for the past hour. Even people that was at our table exited there and had no problem. She then got very upset with me and shouted “don’t come back” and this all because I explained why we walked out that door and she wouldn’t understand so I responded and said “yes it’s okay to be treated like this, it’s not like we’ve received anything we’ve wanted here all night anyways”. I honestly am so disappointed with this service as all I wanted was to spoil my mom with her favorite meal at spur. We will definitely not be returning to this spur branch.

I understand that Spur sponsors sporting events, but I also understand Spur is a family restaurant so found it extremely unpleasant at Las Vegas Spur where it felt more like I was in a sports bar! The volume of the sport broadcast this morning 21 September, plus the clapping & shouting by supporters was so unpleasant I had to shout to try hold a conversation. If this is an expected norm, after many years supporting Spur, I will rather go enjoy a peaceful meal with my friends & family elsewhere. My friend”s autistic son would have gone ballistic with terror had he been with today. Family restaurant, noisy sports eatery???? Very unpleasant experience for a very disappointing meal, even the coffee was awful, cream lumpy & sour tasting.
