I attempted to buy a new 2014 Jeep from Tate Dodge in Glen Burnie Maryland. Worked out a deal on my trade and scheduled with them to get the vehicle the following week. I had taken the VIN off the one I wanted and gave it to my insurance company the day of delivery so I would have coverage. When I went to get the new Jeep, I test drove it and it didn’t feel right. There were some unusual vibrations in the drivetrain which I noted. When we (Fitzgerald and I) sat down to do the final paperwork, I noticed that the VIN was different from what I had taken off my choice. Mr Fitzgerald said to me”You must have written it down wrong”. I accepted that as maybe the case because the last number was different. Then I noticed that a letter in the VIN was also different. Something didn’t feel right. Because of financing smoke and mirrors, I backed out of the deal and took my trade back home. On the weekend to follow, I went there on Sunday when they were closed and found the original Jeep with the original VIN parked in the back lot on the hill and the vehicle they “Tried To Sell Me” parked in a holding area with my name on it as being “SOLD”. The whole experience didn’t feel right. Like the saying goes – “If it don’t feel right, don’t do it”. It is my OPINION that they tried to switch my chosen vehicle to another which had some issues. Maybe it came from an out-of-state dealer which had been flooded or something. If it looks like a Duck, rides like a Duck and Quacks like a Duck, you guessed it — IT’s a DUCK. (You can replace the D with a F and that’s what they tried to do to me) I would stay far away from any TATE location ANYWHERE.
