Hi, my name is Kamal and I was a stock shareholder in TD Ameritrade, but in the year 2016 when they upgraded their website they threw us out. We had no access to our accounts online, I mean they shut us out completely.
When we asked for help, we were told that the company had received thousands of calls from aggrieved customers across the country and everyone was facing the same issue.
We called up the Omaha, and patiently explained our problem to them and asked to speak to someone who could help. We were transferred to someone named Myers. She did not provide us with any sort of designation. She said TDA was not obliged to provide online access to its customers. And then she hung up on us.
I mean, what could we possibly do? We were confused; we didn’t know what was happening. I didn’t know how I could pull my money out, save my ass and my money. I was shitting bricks in my pants, but I didn’t want to give up.
I tried sending in emails to both their customer service ID’s [email protected] , [email protected] but no one ever replied back. I tried calling them up 800-454-9272, but that too of no help. They hung up on us every time we called. It was only her who was taking our calls, when asked her to transfer us to a supervisor; she refused and hung up again. Every time we called, there she was.
We wrote an email and a few hours later, we received a phone call from a Mr Daniel Pilmaier, saying if we continued to contact the company, TDA would be forced to terminate its relationship with us.
After some days, we received a letter that said the company no longer wanted our money and we had 30 days to pull it out and if we can’t we’d be responsible for any sort of fees, penalties or charges. We were abruptly terminated. I mean, they were playing games with us, this is not how companies work. They just can’t be doing what they feel like!!
We wrote an email again and got a reply saying “you’re wasting your time.” They just weren’t ready to listen to us. I would caution everyone about TDA, they are fraud and do whatever they want. Guy’s do not do business with these people, they are arrogant, their customer service is rude and proved that they do not care for your business. Their web upgrade has actually shut out thousands of people.
This is a company to stay away from. They couldn’t deal with us so they decided to throw our money out! They knew they’d be caught so they let go of us. This surely isn’t a company to deal with. They cannot handle shit themselves so they just let go of their clients. Such companies don’t deserve to run. They cannot be telling us what we want to do. They are fraud!!

The services the company offer such as online accounts is to smoothen order processing and offer convenience to customers. However, companies like T D Ameritrade take it as an excuse to harass consumers. How would you feel when a website upgrade results in terminating online account? This is what happened with me and several thousand account holders trading with company. I’m going to do voodoo or black magic to make them pay a price for it. My name is Luke and you don’t have to be scared of me.
The failure to address our issue was looked like a planned conspiracy, as things started to unfold. I started calling the Nebraska office to make myself heard. I thought I’d a good chance to speak to people sitting at highest position to resolve the issue. I was proved wrong. These so-called management executives were blind, deaf and dead. I talked to Shane, the manager, on last day of February. It isn’t the hardest of days to remember. I was visiting the favorite café on St. Andrews Road. The explanation he’d in his defense was the worst possible thing you could ever hear. It pacified me in a way that only scammers would have ignorance and dumbness to talk to customers like this and present their case in such a bad way.
The guy on the other end of line was some big shot (this is what I was informed). He’d the audacity to make a case that online is a pure experience-enhancing service and company can take it off or away any time, they want. I was denied of basic services what you’d expect from any good brand. I felt like the end of world for both of us. This was getting out of hands. That guy lost patience before I did. He disconnected the call. Wasn’t it expected? I was kind of expecting something similar to that.
There was no reason for me to feel disheartened or quit. I was fighting for my rights. They could say anything, do anything but I wasn’t going to stop chasing them. They kept on putting me to the same manager. I’d developed a kind of understanding about his thinking behavior and pattern. By the time we reach second week, he started to reply in yes or no. I understood there was no point in pursuing the case forward with him. I somehow remembered the line I used to dial: 8004549272.
I got hold of email address and took last chance, before surrendering to scammers. I wasn’t expecting any results and I was proved right. I’ve got records of contacting T D Ameritrade on [email protected] and [email protected] . They contacted us back saying the company needs to reevaluate our membership for future purposes. The next thing we know is we’re asked to take money back and membership was terminated.
I’d no clue how to react to this fiasco. They could have easily fixed everything but decided to lose business. They made our lives hell. I’d say we’re saved, taking the future prospect into account. These scammers were so weak they couldn’t stand someone talking truth and fair policy. So, they decided to get rid of us.
I want to tell all you guys that TDA is a fraud. They are confusing and scamming.
The wrong amount was incomed in the trust, so I made sure I pointed out the error and asked them to issue a correct form 1099 or a letter stating the correct amount I received. And I didn’t ask them once, I asked them 10 times, but they weren’t ready to change what they did. They didn’t want to change their statement, and acted like it was my fault. Shitty Assholes!!!!!!!
But they refused, quoting a new regulation. This is unacceptable!
They claimed I could reduce the amount shown on the 1099 compared to what was actually received just by using the expense figures they’d given me, for which I have no proof. Why did I have to receive the amount? Why couldn’t they give me the actual account? A statement and the correct amount? They intentionally changed it all, they are frauds!!
I checked online in their history journal statement, it confirms the correct smaller amount of income that I actually received. And then I also came to know that I wasn’t the only one but there were many others like me facing the same problem.
I don’t know why they’re doing this, they say something else and do something else. This is completely unfair and confusing. I am investing in order to get returns, But I don’t know what they want from me. They’re stealing my money and crediting much less amounts in my accounts.
Their helpline number 800-454-9272 is useless and so are their email IDs [email protected] and [email protected] . Their customer service is shitty and all they do is lie to you and try to convince you that they are correct. FRAUDS!!

Put in a limit order to sell 9 PCLN Oct 31 puts @ $9 before the market open, I check back about an hour later to find they sold my stock options at market for a price of $2.70 giving me a loss of over $2000. The pcln stock options traded as high as $6.40 that day, that is a differance of $3330 from the market order that they wrongfully sold my stock options at. I called tdameritrade as soon as I notice what they did, the first two calls I made I was put on hold after explaining the mistake they made, they never came back and eventually I was disconnected. The 3th call I made they told me they would look into it, but they assured that nothing would be done! If you value your money, I would advise you to keep clear of tdameritrade.

As a new client I moved $4500 electronically from my bank into my TD Ameritrade account – the money has left my bank and has been recognized as being in my TD Ameritrade account. I went to do a trade and was told that since I electronically transfered the funds they will not be available to me for 3 business days. Nice SCAM – they collect interest on my money for 3 days – doesn’t sound like much but my guess is that it adds up to a huge profit for them with all the investors they lure into their scheme. Clearly my own fault – should have gone with a real brokerage firm with local offices to get face to face customer service. These guys are available 24 x 7 – but all the reps can tell you is “sorry I can’t help you except to say those are the rules”. Do yourself a favor and walk into a Charles Schwab office and get honest upfront service.

BUYER BEWARE AS YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!! Stay away from Sctottrade as their computer/technology can tremendously offset their cheap $7 trades(you do get what you pay for). I made a trade end of day that Scottrade lied and told me was made after the market closed and was sold for a $1000+ loss! It is bad enough for Scottrade’s latency to cost you $1000+ but to have their Comppliance Dept either outright lie and say you made the trade after hours or for them to be misled by their obvious lack of technological investment is unacceptable. Day 3 – TD Ameritrade still holding my money hostage! I transferred into my retirement account and TDA snatched 20% in the process. I complained about their unauthorized taking. I am a Mexican citizen who worked legally in the United States several years ago. After the project ended I returned to Mexico and from time to time I have made some small deposits to my trading account. A few months ago I decided to start trading with options and decided to transfer some funds from my work as a consultant to my trading account. Last December 7th, I deposited a 3,500.00 USD check using the TDAmeritrade app to my trading account to start trading with Options. However, a couple of days later TDAmeritrade closed my account without any warning. The only explanation that I received from Customer Service was that my account was closed by fraud, and I would receive a letter by mail the next working day explaining the reasons. Up until today, I haven”t received any letter from TDAmeritrade, explaining their true reasons for closing my account. The only two things I did with my account was: a) Finishing the options online training course using the ThinkorSwim platform. b) Deposit a check to my account to start trading. I bought 80 bonds at what I thought was a very good price on the morning of 7/11/11. Within minutes, my account shows the bonds and their market price. Showing a nice profit, I put them up for sale a few hours later. About 15 minutes after putting them up for sale, my account value plummets by $70K and the bonds are gone. Not sold… gone. I call up and they tell me the original price was a mistake, and backed out of the earlier transaction. Don’t count your chickens even after they hatch with TD Ameritrade. I doubt they’d ever consider backing out of a deal if I was on the losing side.

I wrote a letter to your corporate Humana Resources Department but they obviously don”t care. The last time they had contact he told her if she want to hook up and smoke pot he would give me some good tips. This time, i guess he went to Miami this past weekend, supposedly for business and asked her if she wanted to go. He explained to her that she would be able to come home because he would give her adderall to stay up. He also told her once he gets back he wanted to meet and smoke pot again and do bars, whatever drug that is. I know this sounds bizarre, but I”m having enough problems with my marriage and don”t need someone promising to give us tips for sex with my wife. I had tofind out how to get onto Ameritrade after they took over Scottrade. The user id they gave me does not work or my security answer. They say to call but do not answer their phone. i needed to make some stock trades and cannot. Theys hould be sued. Now i have to try Etrade until they buy them out. Then I will just do it over the phone i guess. Ameritrade should not be in business . They are a poorly serviced company obviously. To be in this business and be unreacheable is a huge mistake. I have had an $8, 000 plus credit from trading show up as a debit. I had to argue for 1.5 hrs with managing broker before he contacted the tech department. Uncovered the mistake… and apologized. I inherited an estate but unfortunately a sizable amount of the estate is in a scott trade account. I hired a cpa and an attorney to help settle this estate. Scott trade was very difficult to deal with. We believed the account had been put in my name in june, 2027. No statements. Decided to transfer the contents of that account to another brokerage. Scott trade claims they never got any documentation from my cpa. Nobody is getting any statements. I am not allowed to know if they even have the account though I gave them many identifying numbers, etc. Called back to speak with a supervisor who said they cannot find any of the documentation we sent. They suggested going to the branch office which is 300 miles away. Even if we re-send the documentation they seem to have lost it will be weeks or months before my name can be put on the account which is necessary to get my money out of their hands.~scott trade has a significant amount of my inheritance and I believe I will never get it. I have read many complaints against them and it seems they charge a monthly fee. I have no access to my money but I suppose they are collecting their fees.~my overall impression is that no one there cares about anything. Nobody seems interested in tracking down the information they lost. To the best of my knowledge they have not followed through to contact my cpa.~in my opinion, it is impossible for heirs to get money out of scott trade if someone dies. I plan to sue but I assume they will call in a summary judgement from scottsdale.~so much for their cute ads about how roger riney always went the extra bit, even as a child… So as an adult he wanted to make an extra fine and cheap brokerage to serve people, blah, blah… You get what you pay for. I just want to admonish your readers what a terrible experience I have had w/ a new account I opened at TD Ameritrade. Every month, for the past 3 months, I have had to re-set my password and “security questions” because they are repeatedly erased when TD Ameritrade does one of their frequent “software upgrades”. The process must be done over the phone. Problem is, TD Ameritrade does not have enough customer service reps to answer the phone during normal market hours. If you want good service, stick with Scottrade, Fidelity or Vanguard. TD Ameritrade is a PITA.

I opened a individual cash account with TD Ameritrade on September 5th, 2008. I agreed to have TD Ameritrade withdraw $10, 000 out of my savings account. I completed everything in the TD Ameritrade account and made a transaction to purchase stock the same day. The order was filled on September 5th. On September 10, 2008 I received a phone call stating that TD Ameritrade had take it upon themselves to sell my stock. I was told it was due to insufficient funds. The account number that I gave them was correct however the money was in my money market account instead of my savings. My bank made a mistake and deposited my money from the transaction I made over the phone, into the money market instead of my savings account as I requested. I explained to three different people at TD Ameritrade this could have all been avoided if they had called me the first day that they had received a notice that there was insufficient funds. I explained to them that I could provide proof that the funds were the account. I was not lying. I understand they don”t know me but the money was there. All I expect from them is that they would have given me the courtesy of a simple phone call to inform me of what happened. I would have resolved it right away. Instead, they waited until after their deadline and then they call me up and explain to me that they sold my stock at a loss and now they are saying I owe them $167.42. A simple phone call even the day of the deadline saying we need the funds in by noon would have been acceptable to me. But not for them. There policy is make the transaction and sell the stock without any authorization or notice of any kind and then after they do this, call the customer up and tell them what took place. I came home today (Thursday Sept 11th) to have a phone call on my answering machine from Ameritrade to return her phone call. I did return her phone call and she Informed me again that I have an unsecured debt and asking me when I was going to send them their money. I informed her that I was not going to. She proceeded to tell me that she noticed I have other accounts with them and that they would take money from those accounts to repay the debt. Not sure here but I think there is some unethical practices going on here. It is not my intent to blame them for the funds being in the wrong account. As a professional business I would think that they would call there customer to inform them if there were any issues so they can resolve the situation before they take action. Obviously not.

I started trading commodities in my tdameritrade accouunt. I did not expect them to be be a crack commodity broker, given that they are a stock house, but they are horrible. They will not allow you access to your open trade credit for either withdrawl or additional positions, without a one day lag…yes that is right, they freeze your open trade equity for an entire day! They treat commodity settlements like stock settlements. This can result in all sorts of disasters as a traders. This flaw can freeze you out of spreading off an open position and the issuance of margin calls, despite having more than enough equity in your account. Good luck moving the money out of your account, it took 3 days and hours on the phone to get my money out of there. It is obvious that no one at the firm has ANY experience trading commodities, their futures “experts” are arrogant, ignorant, and obviously have no idea how professional commodity brokers operate. Run away, their policies will hurt you some day.
