We had a 13 mo lease, “”paid it in full”” -but moved out one month earlier, We surrender the keys with the rent check and a letter of why we moved out. Basically too many safety issues with electrical. They have multiple repair requests showing complaint of electrical preblems. One applaince would shut off another, etc. The appliances were broken from the get go- Had refrigerator repalced with broken plastic pieces, and no door handle. After 30 days of lease expiration, we received a bill for $130, NOT a certified notice- that the state requires stating why our deposit was not going to be returned. We sent them a certified letterthe next day of receipt of that bill stating the reason why we should have our deposit returned and disputing additonal charges. 10 days later we get a “”collection”” notice. The amount is now in collection with threats of it going to the credit bureau. I called the state advocate and we can SUE- and not much about the fact Carrington did NOT follow the law that clearly states they cannot keep the deposit if letter NOT sent according to FL statues, Clearly slum lord way of doing business. Stay far from this place. I will still file a complaint with state but cannot afford a mar in my credit even temporarily, so will pay,,, but they need to be exposed. .
