Container Store is selling products containing BPA (Bisphenyl A, a carcinogen), and using bait and switch practices to sell the inventory. They’ll tell you the product doesn’t have BPA, but when you contact the manufacturer of the product, the manufacturer will acknowledge that the plastic does contain it. This is FRAUD! And the Container Store should not do this. It’s bait and switch, it’s illegal, it’s unethical, and it’s criminal. They’re selling BPA plastic products that can harm you. And yet, they’re trying to hide that fact. Do not shop at The Container Store. Find a reputable distributor. Shop at Walmart or Target or any other place. But don’t shop at The Container Store. I will never shop there again! We must put stores that engage in criminal behavior out of business as soon as possible.”

Firing employees for purchasing product for other “non” dependents. Maybe they should have just STLOEN it!! This is a sad period. An employee of 8 years was suspended pending termination because he bought merchandise and gave it to his uncle. Once owned, who cares? Where’s the malice? Where’s the deception? After you own Itunes for a year, do you re-read the user agreement?? Oh wait, did you ever read it?? Of course he didn’t. Joan Manson IS the issue. She is the VP of loss Prevention / Risk Control & whatever may indulge her ego. Point being, rather than addressing real issues (You know, like the over flowing stockrooms, Lack of safety training certificates, etc.) she is concerned about employees who have made purchases not in line with the recent “updated” employee agreement. Absolutely absurd, yet very sad. I hope Kip can travel and get a “pulse” from the employees… The dust has not settled. For those who can remember, Pacific Stereo, once the “leader” in electronic home supply, went through a similar internal virus. Unfortunately, they did not heed the warning signs. History is a valuable reference.

I contacted the customer service chat section early in the week about a issue I had with an incorrect item being sent. The agent was able to get the issue resolved and instructed me when I receive the correct item to contact them again and a UPS pickup would be issued for the incorrect item. I contacted the chat service again today and what should have been a 5 minute call to do a pickup was a 30 minute laborious process that even had a moment where the agent was willing to just get off the chat and not initiate the pickup. I have never found such a frustrating experience in a online chat forum for a company. This is complete opposite of the instore experience. Having made a couple of contacts with the chat feature in the past, Container Store really needs to work on some customer service alignment with this group.

I had the most unpleasant shopping experience ever at the San Antonio Store today (12/11/2015). The aisles were cluttered with boxes and stockers to the point where customers could not access the aisles for shopping. Not just one or 2 aisles but the entire store was in disarray. I find this the most unprofessional way to run a business; if the store really want to stay in business. The shelves should be stocked when there are no customers present. I hope the company lost enough business today customers will never enter the store again. I also hope this was the CEO Tindell”s decision or edict to do it this way so the owners can hold him personally responsible for the loss of business during this high volume shopping period. As for me I”m switching to Amazon for all my container needs. I don”t think there is anything that could be done except firing the proper management employee that made the decision to stock shelves during business hours.

I have an Elfa door rack, a branded organizational system, owned by the Container Store. Three of the components, hanging bins, showed some rust so I returned them to the store. I expected that the store would stand behind their company-owned product and offer an exchange, refund or store credit. I spoke with three people — a floor sales person, the floor sales manager and the cashier/clerk, seeking resolution. I’ve never had an issue with the many Elfa products I’ve purchased over the years at Container Store.

I like Container Store no doubt about it, it has good durable goods. The stainless steel rack which I have taken a year back is still in good condition. But my cmoplaint is regarding their pricing strategy… Few days back I had been to their store in Natick, MA, I was looking for some good storage boxes for my granny (she is best comfortable with boxes, she’s not worried about her stuff to get broken). The actual price given was $14 when the MP was $19. Ok so I was suppose to get $2 as discount so I carried two boxes and also took half a dozen hangers for me. Well, my calculation went wrong; they charged me for the MP and not the discounted price. I ask the lady to call her manager she took the defensive side and told that manager was on leave. After arguing for half an hour, she gave me two receipts, it was surprising that in one bill the discounted amount was printed and in other receipts the MP was printed. She took full amount of big priced items and gave discount on small priced items. I am sure she thrash discounted difference to her pocket!.. I do not trust their employees really, they are terrific.
