My experience with The Petite Retreat was awful. The staff were rude and helpful. I can’t believe I paid despite the poor services offered.
I recently visited a friend in Houston. This city was amazing, and everyone in it was very helpful apart from a few teens who tried to snatch my handbag. I was enjoying my stay, and during our talks, the friend suggested that I had a lot of dead skin and needed waxing. She claimed that waxing would leave my skin feeling fresh and rejuvenated. I decided to try it out.
Since I was not familiar with SPAs in Houston, I decided to research online. Most of the spas had functional online websites that described their activities and operations. I went through the top-rated spas and decided to settle for The Petite Retreat. This particular day spa had an outstanding online website, and from the available reviews, the spa would serve me well. I booked an appointment over the phone. I went to the place earlier before the appointment to familiarize myself with their policies. The staff members were not helpful, and they kept carrying on their business. The place was crowded, and the receptionist was attending to some customers. I had to wait.
After she was done, I informed her about my appointment, and to my surprise, I had to queue like everyone else. This felt disappointing, but there was nothing I could do but wait. The queue was long; it took me hours. Finally, when it was my turn, I was taken to a secluded room at the corner of the building. The room was poorly lit, and the lady who was to wax me was not friendly. I expected to be served by a professional, but from the look of things, the lady was neither professional nor experienced. I was told to lie in a bed, and a liquid was poured upon me. The liquid was later left to harden up. After thirty minutes, the lady therapist came back, and I could feel solid particles all over my body. She informed me that she would start with the legs. It was my first time to receive waxing, but I felt a lot of pain. I tried to complain to the therapist, but she said this was expected. She ripped the solid particles hard, inflicting more pain, and I could barely take it. She became rude and told me if I would not stay still, she was going to serve another client.
I was forced to corporate despite the pain. By the end of the process, my skin had pilled off in various sections, especially on the face. The pain was unbearable. After the session, I went to complain to the manager, but he was out of the office. I left the place disappointed. Then the pain was too much, and I had to see a dermatologist immediately. My friend was sorry, but there was nothing that could be done. I regret visiting The Petite Retreat spa.
