Thumbtack may seem like a reasonable website but I assure you it is not. I’ve gotten over 120 “clients” reaching out to me, and I give them my price quote, and turns out that either they don’t respond, or respond with false information. There was this one lady who requested a service for a “company event” in a hotel in South Padre Island, TX on a given Thursday, said she had reserved a hall for the event and everything. I actually called the hotel and they told me no one had reserved any hall at that time. Turned out she never responded again.

It really does seem like Thumbtack has people hired who send dummy requests because as a user on the website, you pay every-time you respond.
