I purchased two of the following item from a legitimate ebay merchant. However 3 months of very light use, one VisionTek SSD failed and no longer shows up in the bios, so I contacted VisionTek about an RMA, here is what they said: Unfortunately, the product is not covered under VisionTek warranty. The warranty applies only to the original purchaser/owner of the product. EBay items are almost always sold by other endusers or unauthorized VisionTek reseller. VisionTek RMA Department I informed them 1) It was a legitimate merchant, 2) I was the original user and SSD was in fact brand new, and 3) According to their own published warranty, my product is in fact covered by thier manufacturer warranty. Nowhere does their warranty mention being denied for purchasing on ebay, nor is there any indication that they will only honor the warranty from certain vendors. In your email you said you bought the unit off of EBay. As our response stated, we do not have any valid retailers on EBay and therefore your units are not covered under warranty. If this was a typo on your part, please provide a copy of the proof of purchase. The screen shot you sent us earlier does not qualify. Thank you Mark K Tek Support Team Member VisionTek 866-883-5411 VisionTek, where are your ethics? This is illegal, you can’t modify the terms of your warranty in order to deny a claim. Go read your own warranty… I completely regret buying this SSD. I was willing to take a chance on lessor known SSD brand because of the warranty. It never crossed my mind that a manufacturer would outright refuse to honor their own warranty. Now I’m stuck with a brand new drive that VisionTek refuses to fix, and I’m worried the second one may fail. .
