Prospective Maintenance Technicians be leery of Wendy’s/Trident Foods hiring tactics if you wish to perform maintenance at their restaurant locations in Indianapolis. They will guarantee that you will get 40 hours plus yet they will also tell you that you don’t get paid for your travel between locations or from your home to a location. This also includes when you are on call. Basically, you’ll be out for 50 or 60 hours to make that 40. There’s a fine line here of what they can and can’t do within the guidelines of the Hour and Wadge Commission and they’re getting away with it. Your company van should be considered your office. When you’re in your office performing duties for your company you should be getting paid for it. Wendy’s/ Trident Foods however doesn’t see it this way and thinks you shoud be driving for free and on your time. My question is… Since I’m on my time between locations do I use their van for personal use? Should I go and perform a side job since they’re not paying me? If I have an accident in their van ( between locations ) are they going to cover my injuries? Am I considered off the clock since I’m not being paid for my travel time? I would think very carefully before accepting any offer of employment from this company.
