On 19th of April 2014 I made a booking through Wizzair iPhone app and when I had to make the payment the app kept giving me an error code saying that the booking was successful, however there was an error trying to process the payment and that I should try again later to finalize the payment (which I did by pressing the button again – the reason why my debit card got charged twice and surprisingly another booking was also made for the same route, same name!!!) I immediatelly called the Wizzair Call Center for Romania (due to the fact that I made the booking from Romania) and spoke with a lady who cancelled one of the two bookings that were made due to the app error and she assured me that the money for the second booking won’t be charged from my card (at the time being those two payments appeared as PENDING on my card statement). But obviously that was last week, because a few days ago, when I checked my online card statement again, I had a shock! Those two amounts were not pending anymore, but they BOTH appeared as SETTLED TRANSACTIONS! So not only that I got charged twice the same amount for a single flight ticket, but those money were paid as RON when the currency of my card was in fact in US dollars. So as you can imagine the bank did the currency exchange so I lost some money due to that… Now, due to the fact that Wizzair did not reject my second payment so that the money will return intact into my account, but instead they accepted the payment, when they paid the same amount back to me it was not the same amount like the one that I paid initially. The amount that I had to pay for the flight ticket was 735,90 RON which the bank exchanged into 236,03 USD when the first payment was made. The second payment was obviously set as the same amount, but what I got in return from Wizzair was only 225,49 USD. .
